Hi..
"Alcoholism symptoms", can be recognized relatively early in the disease's progression, but if not dealt with, alcoholism can be fatal.... Here are alcoholism signs and symptoms that indicate alcohol may be a problem:
"""""
Becoming Angry When Confronted About Drinking
• Daily or Frequent Alcohol Consumption Needed to Function
• Drinking Alone
• Finding Excuses to Drink
• Food Intake Neglect
• Hiding Alcohol Related Behavior
• Inability to Stop or Reduce Alcohol Consumption
• Memory Loss, Blackouts
• Morning Shakes
• Nausea, Vomiting
• Physical Appearance Neglect
• Violent Episodes Occur When Drinking
>>>>>>>
Treatment :
"""""""""
The nature of treatment depends on the severity of an individual's alcoholism, and the resources that are available in his or her community.... Treatment may include detoxification (the process of safely getting alcohol out of one's system).. taking doctor-prescribed medications, such as : "disulfiram" (Antabuse®) or naltrexone (ReVia™) .. to help prevent a return to drinking once drinking has stopped... and individual and/or group counseling.... There are promising types of counseling, that teach recovering alcoholics to identify situations.. and feelings that trigger the urge to drink and to find new ways to cope that do not include alcohol use.... Any of these treatments may be provided in a hospital or residential treatment setting or on an outpatient basis.....

I hope this helps!
My regards! ..and the best of luck!!

it doesnt matter HOW MUCH you drink or HOW OFTEN you drink really, it's what happens WHEN you drink. Do you hurt yourself? Do you hurt loved ones? Do you drink and drive? Also, usually if you don't get into "trouble" or arguments or hurt yourself or someone you love EVERYTIME you drink, but everytime you get into trouble, it has been because of your drinking, you may want to look at what's going on. Remember, no one can tell anyone else that they are an alcoholic. Because, quite honestly, what good would THAT do? You have to be unhappy with your drinking situation to really want to make a change. I would highly recommend attending AA meetings if you find that you think you truly have a drinking problem and truly want to quit. I would recommend going to as many as you can in as many different cities as you are able. The reason for this, is because you will run into a TON of meetings that you don't like. Or aren't right for you. Don't give up. You will find a meeting that you love and people that you love. Best of luck.

You are an alcoholic if you are addicted to alcohol.
This means that if you are drinking most of the time, as a way of escape, and if you have to have a drink in order to feel like you are functioning at our best: then you are alcoholic.
Best way to quit: Admit you have a problem, then get some help. Nothing to be ashamed about, have a mental picture of where you want to be when you are free from a habit that can potentially kill you!

Do you drink everyday? How does the thought of going a week without alcohol sound to you? Can you interact with people without alcohol in your system? If you had no money left would you sell your possessions in order to buy alcohol?
If you really think you might have a problem and want help, talk to your doctor about going to a detox clinic.

Have you tried to cut down, but couldn't?
Do you get angry when family or friends talk to you about how much you are drinking?
Do you feel guilty when you drink or the morning after?
Do you ever have an "eye opener" ( a drink in the morning to clear your head- or "hair of the dog that bit you"...keeps the "shakes" from coming)
These are screening questions (CAGE questions) we use to talk to people about a potential drinking problem.
How much time a day do you spend drinking/thinking about drinking/ or trying to get something to drink?
Do you hide your drinking or drink alone, or lie about how much you drink?
Do you feel shakey, nauseas or sweaty when you go for a day without drinking?
Ever had a blackout? Ever had a withdrawl seizure or delerium tremens?
Family history of alcoholism?
Have an enlarged liver/numbness in hands or feet/tiny red spots on you that look like spiders/ hair loss on your body/shrinkage of testicles/unsteady gait?
If YOU think you are drinking too much, go to a counselor or your family doctor and talk to them about what you are noticing.
Alcoholics Anonymous can help too.
