My dog just had puppies and the runt would not eat because her mouth is too small for the nipple...i gave her water thru a syringe and a little milk. I need to find out what will be safe to give her until i can get her to a vet, which i already know needs to be asap!

No she needs puppy milk. You can get it at most stores. The cow milk will dehydrate her with diarrhea. She may also have a cleft palate, check for that too.

prtigrl is right! Do not give anymore cows milk. If you are in a rural area that makes it hard for you to buy puppy formula, sold at most major pet stores or vets office, then you can make your own. Use the following recipe. You may have to go to the grocery store though. A puppy can be fine for a few hours without eating but it is recomended that you move on it quickly as they need the energy to keep up body functions.

MIX IN BLENDER:
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Tablespoon Whipping Cream
2 Egg Yolks (I break the egg under hot water into my hand and "wash off" the white part before adding the yolks into the mix)
1 Can PET (brand) Evaporated Milk

DISSOLVE ON STOVE:

2 Packages Knox (brand) unflavored gelatin
1 Cup water

Combine all above together. Add one more cup of water. Blend well. Refrigerate. The stuff turns to a "pudding" state, but melts when warmed.
You can also use:

1 cup of unflavored yogurt
2 egg yolks
1 cup of purified water
Mix well, heat to body temp about 98-100 degrees F
Visit a vet and make sure the pup doesnt have something else wwrong with him. If the others appear healthy there is a chance that this one for some reason hasnt developed properly and may not survive. but its always worth a try
Feed through a bottle. This is a slightly thicker formula but works just as well until you can get some puppy formula and get to a vet.

She may be producing more milk than you know. The feeding stimulates more milk flow and big boobs don't necessarily mean lots of milk, and vice versa. As long as the pups are not crying and are gaining weight there is no need to suppliment feed them. Cow's milk has lactose, which the pups can't digest and may give them scours (runny poo). In addition, if you feed cow's milk to baby marsupials they go blind due to the lactose, which goes to show how important the right milk is. If you are worried, you can ask the vet to prescribe something to increase her milk flow. Also, you can start giving them a porridge of rehydratable puppy food and puppy formulae in about 1 week, 3-5 times a day to take some of the pressure off mum.
