To muslims: ISLAM in the USA?

Question

I've seen a lot of fellow muslims in Yahoo! Answers, and I want to know about Islam in the USA.

Where you born in a muslim family?, did you convert to Islam?
What is the current USA muslim population? Do you think Islam is growing fast in the States?

Tell me about it.

I am a convert to Islam of more than five years now, Alhamdulillah. I converted in May of 2001. My husband is also a convert, however he converted at about 12-13 and has been Muslim for more than 25 years.

I have seen more and more people coming to Islam. The Masjids in our area are overflowing with people and they are moving to bigger buildings and constructing more Masjids. Islam is growing fast, not just in the US but all over the world.

I'm an African-American born Muslim. I left the Wairth Deen Muhammad community and came to Islam when I was in High School. I also started covering fully in the 10th grade. So I'm sort of a convert. Yes, Islam is still growing, I read a source, only one source thus far, which said Islam may be the largest Religion worldwide in ten years.

Quite a few here. No one minds Muslims. This is just a web site to air our differences. Without violence or hate.
Most Muslims in the USA are Americans like the rest of us and loyal to the country. We are all in here together..
I am sure that there children when they grow up join our military and actually fight Muslims in thier previous country. As loyal Americans. Everyone knows that.
As to Islam increaseing, in the black community it is increaseing.
However, it is true that the 9/11 and the other terriorist attacks are causing Americans to be a little nervous about where there loyaltys lie. Most we know lie here where they live and work.

I am a Muslim. I am living in NY. I wasn't born here. I am an immigrant. And I am by born Muslim.

Correct number of Muslims in USA is largely disputed. It's between 4 to 6 million. And it's increasing rapidly due to:
1. Immigration
2. Conversion
3. Having family.

I was born Muslim, but my parents weren't. They were born Christian and converted to Islam when they were around 14 years old. Islam is definately growing fast in America and Mashallah its a beautiful thing.

Islam in the USA is tricky to a sense.There is the religion of islam and the nation of islam.I follow hanif-islam and just simply answered when allah called.From atheist to agnostic to islamic.But here in the US there are a lot of false doctrines.For example, there is the 5 percent nation if isalm.They worship a man named Farad Muhammad(look up his name on the web and you shall know) just as people worship jesus, Joseph Smith, and Ezra.If you read about a man named Malik Shabazz(MalcomX) it will give you an in depth answer to the religion of islam in the US.Or the doctrines prescribed for themselves.But I worship the true GOD allah and follow the prophet muhammad(pbuh).For my personal self, I follow the path of a hanif which is a muslim in truth.I follow the 5th and 7th heaven and wait to join muhammad(pbuh) in paradise in the afterlife.But there are muslims, god bodies, and 5 percenters in the US.They all claim islam to be the true.But only the ones who submit to the will of allah are the true muslims.Most take another as thier lord besides allah.Or say that they are allah.The nation of islam(existant only in the US) worship Farad Muhammad as they believe he was an incarnate of allah(the beggining of this doctrine began in the 1900s when the black man was trying to liberate themselves).But allah was never incarnate, begets none, nor was begotten.I am 23 now and accepted islam when I was 19.Taught by no man except allah.But of course his intecesors to prove I can never place myself above them.That being his prophets, angels, messengers, and of course THE GOD himself.What I insist for you to do is to read about Farad Muhammad and Malcom X(who was taught by the nation of islam.By Elija Muhammad.But when he took his pilgrimage to mecca and returned found that was not the true religion.So they murdered him.He died in 1965.A great proof in my eyes to his accomplishments misunderstood by most.How allah taught him what he needed to know then brought him to HIS true self).It will give you a better understanding on who some consider allah is.Then compare thier teachings to your true state as a muslim.There are a lot of people who believe in allah in the US.But if you ask them who is allah, it is not the GOD described perfectly in the quran.In the US, that is the difference between Islam and the nation of islam.ALLAH blessed you with a mind.Take my advice and the answers will be revealed.To what people think THE GOD is.The 5 percenters say we are allah.But I know the difference between creater and created.They broke the name of THE GOD to arm, leg, leg, arm,(supreme)head.The first letters of these body parts spells allah.So a lot believe themselves to be allah or will say HE walked this planet as Farad Muhammad.But this belief can only be applied to the black man.That is why they killed Malcom X.Because he knew what the real religion of islam is about when he took his pilgrimage.And they did not want him teaching that to the masses of this country.This was during the 1960s.But is stilled practiced today.If you go to a mosque and they have a black american as the imam.More than likely, he can explain it to you.Ask him who is farad muhammad.As salamun alaikum

I was born muslim and moved here for better opportunity like any other families who moved to the USA. i don't hate anybody or any other religions. i'm always in yahoo answer trying to clarify the misunderstood facts about islam.

here in bend, oregon, we have a small muslim community. among us are 3 american converts. one of them told me that she has tried all religions known to find the truth and finally embraced islam. what really snapped her? i don't know but would like to know...

the interesting thing that i would like to share is the surprising fact when i was in one of the elective classes - "religions of the world" that i took when i was doing my degree in pennsylvania. my catholic professor admitted that to him Quran is the most complete holy scripture he had ever known. in it there are laws, histories, prayers, god's descriptions, etc. compared to bible which is mostly history about jesus. hopefully by now, allah has opened his heart to embrace islam...

the Muslim population in US is increasing...very fast..and no matter what others are saying...and the main reason ...is cause they see and study the real Islam .....not what the media tells them...
at the moment its some thing aroud 5 % according to the census..
but yet..that is not a correct figure...
there hardly is a week...when some one does not convert..at our Musjid..ALLHUMDUALLAH
