Deviants often cover up their true nature by putting on an ultra-religious front.

Generalization is a no-no. I think people on the average are good people be they Christian or not. Unfortunately there are the sick minded who like to use religion as a shield. That goes for terrorist, rapist. etc. The thing is it just sounds more horrific when you are told that the person involved was "supposedly " Christian. However, a true Christian would not think about doing those kinds of things. Even if they thought they could repent and get away with it. Someone who was honest in their convictions and beliefs would not allow such thoughts much less actions to stem from them. I think it is a sad commentary on the world at large when random monsters can be thought Christian. And the media always like to have something to make the story pop out at you. If they said that someone had been a religious leader and commited an atrocity, it creates a larger reading or viewing audience due to sensationalism. One of those down sides of free speech. It's all about the rating game.

I don't know where you have been getting your information from but you are totally wrong. For one thing, anyone that molests a child is not a Christian as a Christian would not do that. It is against the law in this country for anyone 10 years old to marry with or without the consent of parents, as you said, it is child abuse and would not be tolerated by any religious group. And farm men do not have sex with animals in this country or with children. It is the law and if it is broken, it is severely punished. Better check with your sources and get the facts straight. Christianity is the thing that stops the incest and rape, never condoning it at all.

Yea! what is new? Religion has done all that and more. Crimes on individuals go to the extremes under the HOLY holy crap.
Mormons today (?????) good people started from sick words. But all religions state 'live well and multiply", (whatever) the polygamy thing did provide women the way come west. they had the safety of a surrogate family to be with.
HEY! we have to live with them. They are BIG now.
I don't see a good argument of abuse at the Mormon Church only on the extreme side. The women in the polygamist movement must know, sorry, They MUST know they choose to do this. I must be real.. If I had a method to adopt /marry from the polygamists and remain outside, I would.
Would you brand me abusive? What is the difference to take someone into MY home to provide them with security and the well-being, I take for myself, when you tag people like me with abuse and rape? How lonely are you?
Farm people "wow" strong generalization. I have never heard of a problem from F.P.
The fact farm children understand SEX in detail They also know how to prevent accidents.
Incest How did you choose this word? do know LIKE I do. Are you referring 'playing doctor' with children? or adults?
I have (had: I'm 66) kissing cousins under the skirts. or are you accusing adult/children? Where did you get that data?
Last "Christianity _ front" NO but a lot of crap slips by because there is no accountibilty where the money goes.

Where in the world did you get these facts? Obviously from your immagination!
Are you saying people of other faiths or no faith at all never comit these crimes?
First off mormans and catholics are not necessairly Christian although they can be individulally. Some doctrinal teachings of both religions conflict with the Bible and what Jesus taught being a Christian is. So if an "unsaved" Morman or Catholic comitted these crimes they were not comitted by a Christian.
Second All have fallen short of the Glory of God. Even those "saved" and truely a Christian can sin.
Third let's suppose for one minute your statement is true: With there being several millions of preachers there must be millions ofvictims... Plus all the victims of family and friends who are not preachers....No study anywhere supports that.
Your statement contains no factual basis... try again

The Catholic church in general is not representative of Christianity as a whole, Mormonism is a cultic off shoot that was based upon an incestual polygamist, and to claim that many "farm" people are christian and commit incest is gross ignorance and an over generalization.
Even so.......Christianity will only be shown in it's perfect tense by studying the life of Christ, everyone else is living under the curse of sin. Those that commit these egregous acts certainly aren't christians in the biblical sense.

Hard to wade through such a deluge of ignorance and bigotry but for starters:A> There are between 1 and 2 billion Christians on earth, not to mention all those who have gone on. Always associated with child molestation? Obviously absurd. B>The two out of ten stat is ludicrous. There are several million Christian ministers in the US alone. 20 percent molesters? What a crock.C> Mormons are not Christians and use the bible for their own ends but do not follow what it actually says.D> the farm people remark is incomprehensible , but at least contains a bright spot in as much as you seem to realize that not every one identifying themselves as Christian actually is a Christian. Bottom line--the best cure for your breathtaking bigotry would be to educate yourself . Turn off the tube and crack open a book. May God help you.

That's true but man's inhumanity to man is nothing new.
There are some really bad people in all religions.
In the horn of Africa 25000 children have been kidnapped to use as sex slaves. By Muslims.
India who worships Buddha has temple prostitutes and a lower cast so they don't feel bad about exploiting poor children.
Mexico which is predominately Catholic has little children in the streets prostituting every day. That is the only way they can eat.
Servicing other good Catholics.

Of course not! But that's a place to get money,, a lot of money if you accuse. Very few have to prove their statements all they have to do is make them, true or false! See where they can get the most money and you will see many there to try and get some. You have good and bad in all groups. And the numbers are pretty much the same! I'm aganst abuse from children to adults and male and female! I'm aganst rape in any form! Even children rape kiddo. It's wrong! I know of some cases myself! It's a bad situation for sure.

It makes juicier news that draws more viewers and sells more commercials when someone who claims to be Christian does something so contrary to the faith. It adds an additional element of betrayal, hypocrisy and usually the wolf in sheeps clothing angle. Any given night in a major city hundreds of women are being beaten by husbands, boyfriends, pimps, but if a minister beats his wife, that makes the ten o-clock news. Children are raped and murdered all over the country. But if it's a little white beauty pageant star from a well to do suburban white family, that's news.
The problem with the Roman Catholic priesthood is however, unique. You combine a calling that many enter in an attempt to purify themselves of impulses they feel are perverse by drawing closer to god. They feel unworthy and unclean, something all Christianity teaches everyone is, and hope to earn God's approval and intimacy by entering a life of service. But they've entered a church that for centuries has taught that even having sex for any purpose other than procreation is a venial sin, let alone homosexuality which is an abomination at all times. So you have an unnatural situation with a creature designed for sex and reproduction being forbidden something that is part of its nature. And you have a profession that forbids marriage, which hasn't been an option fo gay men and lesbian women anyway. If your a man who has never been interested in women or a woman who has never been interested in men, doing a job where you can never marry one seems like little sacrifice. All of this creates or reinforces a confused sexual identity and a feeling of alienation in traditional community life, so entering the cloister or the priesthood may seem preferable. But you also enter a world in which any sex with anyone is illicit and must be concealed. Add to this the unique position of power and trust a priest holds and it's a natural fits for predators to join a church where even if the priest is caught, the church will ignore and/or conceal the wrongdoing as a matter of course, just as it conceals all sin and wrongdoing under the seal of confession, but more so as the priest's conduct, if known, diminsihes the Church's authority and prestige. Add to this the organizational commitment to the notion of forgiveness and absolution, and the perverts are free to start all over again.
Bottom line is that the Christian obsession with sex has some very disastrous if unintended consequences. What began as tribal taboos intended to insure that children had family support instead of becoming wards of a tribe struggling for scarce resources, what began as a tribal taboo intended to prevent the feuds and murders that begin in jealousy over infidelity, got mixed with Greek notions of the evilness of matter and the desirability of putting off flesh for pure spirit, and we have a complete mess where everyone is really weird about a behavior they are biolgically driven to engage in.
My opinion, the obsession with controlling the circumstances of sexual intercourse and childbirth and making these unnatural rules and regulations part of our culture has done and continues to do far more harm than ever they did good, particularly in a day where we can prevent spread of disease and childborth if we behave responsibly and use the methods we have.
The Catholics need to give up these twisted ideas about celibacy, something Paul only ever mentioned because he thought the end of the world was at hand and having a family on the verge of the Apocalypse would be a burden on believers, not because it was somehow more holy or pleasing to God. Paul and every other preacher who has preached the imminent return of Jesus for 2000 years has been wrong (something Hagee, Van Impe and others should remember). The Roman Church should quit trying to make eunuchs of its leaders. Until they do this the problem of priests violating their vows, vows for which there is no valid call in scripture and which I would think Christians must admit violates God's creative design, child rape and affairs between priests and laity will continue to be a feature in the diocese.
And for those of you unfamiliar with using Google, which seems quite a lot of you (or maybe you just prefer to pretend it's not so) I have provided a link to the summary of the US Catholic Bishops report detailing 10,667 cases of reported sexual abuse by 4392 priests since 1950. Now ask yourself how many cases of child molestation are actually reported versus ones that never are, or that the church has concealed, as was done by Cardinal Law in Boston. It isn't that these cases are a large percentage of the total that's the scandal, it's the unique position of trust and access their positions afforded them, and the way the church has abetted the abuse that's at issue.
