No they are part of your immune system. Part of your lymphatic system to be specific. They are a good part, but unfortunately sometimes they become infected and become more trouble and have to be removed. In my case that happened. I was 27. Mine were filled with pus and exudate. They had to come out. They had a resistant infection that would not respond to antibiotics. I feel better they can cut off our airway if we do not get them out sometimes because they become so swollen.
If they are not causing a problem they are good to keep.
