Don't know. But they aren't. Birds are extremely adaptive and clever, more than most people can believe.

Just shows you how stupid some people can be.

A person can't find its way home from the beach without a road map and perhaps not even with a road map.

Yet a bird without a road map can find its way to exactly the same stop year after year over thousands of miles. Not only that but they also know all the best places to stay and eat along the way without the aid of the golden arches.

Because they're sadly misinformed! I guess it is true that some birds are brighter than others, though. I know I heard from a few places that ostriches and penguins are on the dim side. But I also remember hearing that African Grey Parrots can be counted as some of the smartest animals on Earth!

In science, it was thought that mammals were much smarter due to our large brains with lots of folds in it. The folds were thought to give a mammal the extra nerves they needed to be 'smart'. Birds have relatively smooth brains and scientists thought birds were stupid because of that. The lack of folks was thought to be a faulkt in bird intellegence. They're finding now, through the hard work of Irene Pepperburg, that this is NOT the case. Parrots have been proven to be as smart as chimps and dolphins. Perhaps smarter. Irene had lots of trouble getting the funding she needed for her studies because scientists at the time thought she was wasting her time. Now she's laughing her way to the bank :) .

Because the size of their brains are disproportionally smaller than other animals. Hence the term birdbrain. Usually the larger the mass of the brain-to-body ratio, the more intelligent the species is. Dinosaurs had extremely small brains for their size as well.

Because they are bird brains. Actually birds are very smart and are interspecies cognative ie they can comunicate with us humans (most of can't even do that) and other animals.
