This is why Laura Ingraham wrote her book "Shut Up and Sing." Many people pay good money to hear their favorite entertainers do what they do best. Entertain. Whether it be singing, or acting, or comedic sketches.
But when entertainers actually begin to bring in their personal beliefs to advocate for a cause, I didn't pay to hear about that. I paid to be entertained, not preached at.
If an entertainer feels the need to bring their beliefs into the mix, and I happen to disagree with them, I ask myself, "Do I want my money supporting someone who has a belief system 180 degrees from mine?" The answer is "No." In the future, I spend my money elsewhere.
It is just better for them to shut up and sing.

No, but not because he was an Athiest. If my favorite artist was an Atheist, he'd be a liar and a fraud because my favorite artist is a Christian artist that makes Christian themed music.
I imagine there are several Atheist entertainers I like. Why would that matter?

At this point, I would worry more if he were a Muslim. Actually, I like music for the music. As long as he hasn't committed any crimes, I really don't care. I never idolize famous people that only have fame for entertainment. That's why I don't care for their religion or politics. Most are hardly role models anyway.

Of course, I'd support an entertainer who was an atheist...unless that person was a rapper. I can't support rap, no matter who's doing it. Can't stand the stuff.

Yes I would. What he/she believes in is not my business unless all of a sudden the music becomes different due to his/her religion. That's assuming the he/she became an aethist recently. Otherwise the music was good enough for me to like the person all this time, so why would it matter?

As a christian, I don't have a problem with the atheist part, its the rap part I can't deal with. Sorry, I like heavy metal, and rap isn't really music, its just a lot of talk.

Yeah, I'm Catholic and I would still support an atheist entertainer. It doesn't exactly have to do with religon, but the person. I'm more liberal, I guess, but I don't see why religon should matter with entertainment.

I am a Christian. An entertainers Spirituality or lack of is their personal life, unless they bring into their career. I've seen a lot of people wear crosses, that doesn't mean they are a Christian or are Religious. So no, un less they were openly satan worshipers and preached it.

Many great entertainers are atheists... look at Penn and Teller!
Anyone who has less respect for someone because they don't believe in their fantasy doesn't deserve respect from the most lowly of bacteria.
