I need a good dog food. I have a 1 and a half year old dog. (Bear) It can't be Iams, Eukanuba, or Kibbles and bits.

definately stay away from eukanuba, iams, kibbles and bits, beneful, DIAMOND, OLROY, science diet, and any other of the commercial advertised foods. If you research what is in these foods u would be amazed and very disturbed in what they put into the pet foods and then say it is wonderful food for your dog,

When a vet tells a grieving owner that they'll "take care" of their dead loved one, they usually mean sending it off with the disposal company for rendering. This is all perfectly legal. Many veterinarians and especially shelters don't have the money to bury or cremate animals. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/CompanionAnimals.htm
If u want a good dog food without the diseased and rendering of cats and dogs and diseased livestock go with innova evo, canidae, or solid gold.

Try Diamond dog food. A premium dog food comparable to Iams & Eukanuba but at a margin of the cost.

One brand I will always use is Iams (along the Eukanuba line). I had a Cocker Spaniel that would eat Iams Minichunks...that, and only that! Chipper lived to be 15 years old. I recently have another cocker, "Coco", that also eats Iams minichunks. I trust it will carry her thru a long happy life. Good luck with Bear, there is nothing better that the love for your dog (visa versa)!

I feed my 3 dogs Innova EVO and they love it. I like to alternate my dogs food every 3 or 4 mo. between 3 excellent foods, the other food they love and that's grain free is Timberwolf.

Some other excellent foods are:

Wellness
Fromm
California Natural
Natural Balance
Canidae
Solid Gold

I know I'm missing some others as well. If you go to your local pet store that carries the better quality foods, they can help you pick out a food that hopefully will work out for you and your dog.

A good dog food is one that has no cheap fillers like corn or wheat (highly known dog allergens) no bi-products.
Innova,
Natural Balance,
Artemis,
Prairie
Wellness are just a few. Usually if its at Pet-co or a big chain pet store you are not going to find the good stuff. Go to some small out of the way pet supply stores they have the good stuff. Do you have a Cenntinella store near you.? Try that.

A super premium food such as Nutro, Wellness, Canidae and many others is what I would suggest. There are many reasons as to why you should feed super premium. One, in the long run it cost less as you need to feed less super premium to get the nutrients. Feeding less means less doo doo in the yard too.

Here is a great article talking about feeding: http://www.pamperedpuppy.com/features/200408_feedingpt1.php

You can get these premium foods at a local small shop, not a large superstore style pet shop. If you dont have a small shop local, try http://www.heartypet.com

You want a dog food that has meat as its first ingredient, not corn or meat by-products. I use ProPlan dog food. It is high quality and less expensive than Eukanuba. Give it a try. Good luck!

I feed Natural Balance Venison & Brown Rice. No by-products, no fillers.

There are several high quality foods on the market. Look for one that has meat as the first ingredient. Avoid foods that use corn, wheat, soy, and by-products. These are cheap fillers for the dog food company and are not nurtitious for your dog. By-products are things that are not fit for human consumption (including cancerous tissue!)
