They say jesus is great and good, and that people should follow him and do as he says. They even say that he is god. They tell how he loved everyone, turned the other cheek, did so much for people, etc. Yet, I read comments from christians and wonder how they can live with their answers. Can someone explain to me how they can pick and choose what to believe and follow?

Why don't you act more like Jesus?

How do you pick and choose what you believe?

I guarentee your answers to these questions are the very answers you seek.

If I had to answer them it'd be this...

When I don't follow Christ, it's because I don't *really* want to believe him.

And, all too often, I pick and choose what to believe in because it's convenient and fits my lifestyle.

First off.........don't look at Christians to follow.........look at Jesus...........don't take your eyes off Him one minute, for when you do, like us, you fail.
It is not an easy road we travel. It is just peaceful.

TOO many Christians get saved and do not follow thru w/reading their Bible...........praying and witnessing.

would you buy a stereo and not read the directions?
Well, it's the same thing...

If they don't read the directions then they are BLINDLY following someone they have not learned to follow.
Jesus left us instructions in how to live.
It is absolutely true everything you need to know is in the Bible.

God, remember, is not all about LOVE, He is also a revengeful God. Do not think we are being hateful when we tell you He loves you or even say and do things we shouldn't. There is a payday coming.
Fortunately, we will be judged for our actions and words. So will you. The only difference is we have already had our day at the Cross. Our true judgment is over as far as going to Heaven or Hell.
We will still go to Heaven, but we will not attain what we could have because of what we did w/Christ here.
ONLY what's done for Christ will last.

Please be patient with us, God is not finished with us yet...

The thing is...we are human. We do make mistakes just like you. Jesus taught us to love the sinner but not the sin. He also told us to stick up for ourselves. We can't go around and allow everyone to walk all over ourselves. Plus, there's more than one type of love. Ever heard of tough love? We are taught that we have to love someone enough to be able to show them the truth when they have fallen off the path. How many people like to get told that what they are doing is completely wrong? And yet, we are suppose to do it. If our best friend is sinning, we have to confront them no matter how mad they become at us. There are times that I don't agree with other Christians answers. There are so many different "parts" of Christianity that they allow traditions and their denomination to get into their way. Certain denominations pick and choose and that is completely wrong. I don't know how they can read what's in the Bible and not believe it. I'm a Christian and I don't understand it. But please don't judge everyone that is a Christian. That's stereotyping and we all know that most stereotypes aren't true. Not all of us are like that and I'm sorry if you've ran into those type of Christians. But before you judge, understand us and our beliefs. Not all of our beliefs are being told in Answers.

What a wonderful question. I applaud you for this.

My standing ovation. Please accept it.

Yes you are right. How many chirstians would go to the cross like Jesus? How many would be willing to lead even a fraction of the life he lead?

This is honesty. And I appreciate your making this point here. Christians are very dishonest. They do pick and choose what they should be and what they should believe

If they had really believed in Jesus and his life and ways, christians would not be wealthy people at all.

In fact, christians would not have stolen the kind of money they stole from third world countries.

Thank you. And GOD bless you for making this point.

A man named Jesus did exist, whether or not he was the Christ has been debated since he was crucified.
Christians are like anyone else, they say and do things that are reprehansible.
Take, for instance, any ethnicity; say they murdered someone, does that make everyone of that ethnicity an awful person? No, it does not.
I have met some really cool people who were christians and have met some of those that you are pointing out. Like all of us, some are good people and some are bad.

I believe that Jesus is/was good and that Jesus was/is God. All the things you have mentioned about Him, I can agree with. Perhaps you could have mentioned the fact that Jesus told us not to judge!
Yes, Jesus is perfection. Alas we are not. We can only try each and every day, to become a little more like Him. If you have got to the stage of perfection and can criticise, then good for you, I am still on the journey.

People don't follow and act like Christ because many of them don't study the word of God to learn how Christ acted, so they don't know how to act like Christ. Others say they follow Christ thinking that is what will get them into heaven; everyone wants to go to heaven but they don't want to do what it takes to get there. They see it as a matter of talking and not actually doing what Christ would want them to do. Think about it, there are a lot of so called Christians that are adulterers, fornicators, and homosexuals, but do they not know that the bible says that people who involve themselves in these activities (the list is longer) will not inherit eternal life in heaven. I am a Christian and I try to live my life pleasing to Christ always...Unlike some other Christians, I am real about my walk, while they are just talking. I try to keep the mind that Christ had, but I am only human so at times, it gets very difficult.

Christians cannot be Jesus only try and be like him. They are humans and all humans have an old nature . To adopt the new nature through Jesus Christ as a personal savious they will through practice get better at it. I think people have alot of issues and they are doing their best, thats why I dont judge them according to a religious catagory but rather according to intelligence versus lack of it. Not everyone is clever enough to see outside the box and still be nice and christian. Alot of Christians are controlled by church doctrine which is not biblical and they therefor become judgemental regardless of their disposition, they can be wrong but they are only human and we need to forgive and forget and be bigger than it.

You are right. I am a christian myself, but for some people Christianity is just a label. where it should be a lifestyle, I know that a lot of times we do not live up to our beliefs.

Since I know we are all humans and sinners I look up to Jesus and Jesus alone, because if I base my faith in other Christians I'd hate to say that I'd probably become a non-believer.

I completely understand your question and that is one of the reasons why Christ hasnt returned for his Chruch because it is the way it is.... I am so embarrassed often by the actions of Christians and often times those of my own. But I am trying and I SPEND time with God so that I can grow and LOVE.... that's the main problem, many christians dont LOVE and you cant ever ever be like Jesus if you leave that out. You can sleep in the church but without Love it profits you nothing!
