It is not for kids, but neither is the internet. The internet should be treated like a car...don't let them use it until you have taught them all the features and precautions.

Well I will have to say "no"! I have a myspace page and as long as the content is not rude or bad I see nothing wrong with it. There are a whole lot of other places out there that are worse.
Parents are in charge of there kids. To ensure what their children are looking at they should (the Parents)be present or have locks on the computer limiting to what they get to on the Internet..I do...
It is up to the adults to make sure they know what their children look at on the internet..If not then they need to quite gripping...

I do think myspace is as bad as the media says. It's definitely a place for an adult, not children or teens. There's way too much profanity, adult content and sexual ideas on there. Children should not be subjected to material like that at all. I also don't believe that teens truly understand the implications of posting identifiable information on there. They may know not to outright post their last names, phone numbers, or addresses. But I don't think many of them understand that posting the name of their high school, their school's team names, surrounding towns or cities are also ways for people to track them down. I think it's dangerous for adults too, in a sense, b/c of all the perverts and monsters out there, but an adult knows enough to make a decision that best fits them; children and teens do not.

yes and no. Remember you have the right as a parent to monitor EVERYTHING your child does and if you child knows that you will be in their face when it comes to the internet, then you can control it from that stand point. The other note is that you CAN'T control the freaks on the other end and sometimes that is the scary part.

I think the best thing to do is to be interested in what they are doing on the myspace site and keep a constant vigil on who they have on their friends list, who they are in regular contact with and what it is they're looking for. children and teens are exposed to far more dangerous things than websites, and it's up to you as a parent to keep them safe from predators and danger every day. ask your kids questions, without them feeling they are being 'interrogated'. personally, i think the site is fairly harmless as long as it's being used for the right reason. if you feel your child is exposing themselves to danger, teach them, warn them. if they don't heed the warning simply ban them.

well myspace is truly no place for a child . . because some people let it all hang out up there . . and are mostly there to hook up for sex . . . it's basically a dating site in disguise . . .

I don't really think so, it seems to just be a place to make connections with your friends, and new people... but I do think it is something you would need to keep an eye on if your child is using it.

I think that anyplace with that much adults on it is not suitable for children. There are too many sicos in the world just to go trusting people.
