I'm trying to lighten my hair after coloring it black for the past 2 yrs and I want it as light as possible. I'm a natural blonde, but I would be happy with a light brown too. I got it to be a dar brown after 2 colors of hair remover and I want to try using a developer. So, how do you go about using it?

you need to seek a professional, artificial color will not lift(lighten)another artificial color and putting 40 vol. peroxide on it will only lighten your virgin hair&It's pretty strong ,kinda abrasive. You'll run into having different colors of hair if you do it yourself. It just doesn't work. It's even hard for a professional to get black out. good luck

YES, mixing equal parts 20 Vol. and 40 Vol. will make a 30 Vol. Developer with a lotion consistency. This will also give you some of the extra conditioners from the creme developer to help protect your hair.

you go to sallys beauty supply and get a bottle of the blonde hair color you want- go with one that has an ash base - like ultra light ash blonde, so that the ash will take out the orangeish brassiness that you will get from lightening it so light... then mix 4 ounces of 40 vol. per 2 oz bottle of hair color that you buy.. let it sit under a plastic cap on your head for about 25 minutes- you may have to double process it since it is dark... if its still not light enough after the first time, then process it again 1 week later but during that week time span, soak your hair in infusium 23 as often as possibleand deep condition it twice a day-another ood conditioner to try is the tea tree conditioner made by proclaim... good luck!

Do not combine 40 Vol. Developer with any lifting product or bleach on your hair. First, you will more than likely ruin your hair if it is long or especially if it is fine. If I were you I would find yourself a great short style and go for it. You certainly will not be able to lift color out of your hair with another color successfully. If you want to keep all of your hair...you might want to seek a colorist that is experienced in color correction. They are hard to find.

the higher the volume the more damage it does to your hair.. opens your pores up ... meaning also when you want to add color the color comes out faster. are you going to mix it with bleach?? or with color???
