I saw in AVIATION magazine years ago, that there was work being done on a small personal Jet that seemed to be a civilian jet airplane (with two small jet engines on either side like a leer jet - small enough for either just one man or two men.
I really liked it and can't remember the name, the company or the cost. I'm really interested in buying one. Does anyone know the jet I'm speaking about?

The current world smallest jet is a BD-5J, which was a home-built. It was used in advertising as the Coors Silver Bullet and is now the Freedom jet. There is a link below for more information on it.

Of the ones that look like miniature Lears, the one you are probably thinking of is the Eclipse 500 twinjet. It actually seats six people and is currently (I think) the only one of the very light jets (the name for the category) that is FAA certified. It received a provisional certificate on July 27 of this year. There is a link below to the Eclipse web site for more information

There are several other companies developing planes of this type. Adams Aricraft, Cessna, Excel-Jet, Tam-Air, Diamond, Avocet, and Safire are all also working on planes for this category. Others may be also developing planes but have not yet announced so publicly.

I think Cessna company actualy had a prototype years ago that sounds like what you are thinking of but it never went into production. It looked a little like a T-33 trainer. Another one that fits the bill is the Paris Jet.

Eclipse 500. This is a very small corporate/private jet which is the cutting edge of low cost VLJ (very light jet) production. Although it has not yet entered service, prices run at about $1.2 million per unit (thats cheap!)

Probably the BD-1 , 1 person homebuilt.
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Sorry just read the whole question: the BD1 was a single turbine.
