It is possible to have both a Maid of Honour and a Matron of Honour - the only thing is that just one of them would sign the marriage license as a witness. In terms of lineup at the front of the church, normally it is by height but other than that you shouldn't have to change anything around. The only "difficult" part is deciding who is on the marriage license.

Maid of honor is for a single friend. Matron of honor is for a married friend. You can either both or have just one. Maid is a term used for single women. Matron means married. I hope no one gets their noses bent out of shape. You can have 2 maid of honors, the real tricky question is--------who is going to be the last one in the bridesmaid procession. That's the high honor if they want to get fussy. I would honor my cousin with that position, because unfortunately friends come and go, but family is forever....I wish you the best, and I hope everyone is extra sweet to you. Have a wonderful wedding, and remember to try and grab some rest when you can! Make sweet memories.....
God bless us all...........

You can have both a maid and matron of honor. I've been to weddings that had both, and I've also seen weddings with two best men. There is nothing at all wrong with having both.
However, you should select one that will play a bigger role. She will be the one standing directly next to you, will be listed higher in the program, and who walks down the aisle in front of you.
I personally would select the one who is closer to you, and who will be able to help you out with more stuff. Even though she's family, I think the out-of-state cousin won't be as helpful as the local friend.

Its ok to have 2 of them. It will make things easier on them anyways. They can split the cost of your shower and all that good stuff. Let them both know that they are it and it will be fine. Besides one is a maid of Honor and the other is a matron of Honor. So it should work out fine. Good luck and have fun! I just got done with my wedding 2 weeks ago, it was a blast but I'm happy to be done with all the planning.

Give each one a specific (and important) job to do during the wedding ceremony and at the reception (think of a few things that really need to be taken care of). The matron of honor should come up the aisle first, and then followed by the maid of honor.

True that family should come first but out of respect you should make a place for both since you asked both. If that is not possible then first asked should be allowed followed by second asked as a backup, make sure both know the procedure and have all they need since there is always something happening during the rush of the wedding.

A matron or a maid of honour is only ONE position. A matron is a married woman, a maid is not - the only difference is in the name. One does not have one of each as attendants!

Have both of them! One being maid and one being matron is especially convenient for having two. I had my mom as my matron and my best girl friend for my maid of honor. It worked out great! The duties fell right into place and everyone was happy, especially me.
