Love birds, in reality, are one of the most aggressive parrots out there. They may be small but they have attitude! They're so aggressive that many Lovebird breeders strongly suggest that you not have two birds. A single lovebird makes a better pet! They're also harder to keep tame. You have to handle them every day to keep them really sweet.
Lovebirds got their name because of their habit of sitting close to each other. It's a very misleading name!

If we are talking about true birds with feathers "Yes". I purchased two love birds from different locations and one (peach faced)attacked the other bird for about a month on a daily basis. I felt so sorry for the other bird cause it was smaller and had a (red head). After a long time (30 days) he stood up to her and fought back. Suddenly she (peach face) was totally smitten by the smaller bird. After this he feed her daily as if she was his baby. I found out that this is a normal ritual for mating pairs. They started collecting bits of paper and built a nest in the corner of their cage. The two started making love constantly. Even when someone was standing at the cage observing...They are not shy! Soon we had 4-5 eggs and of course baby birds too.
So "Lovebirds" are truly Loving Birds. I suggest you buy a 5-6 ft. tree (ficus) and saw off a limb for a hanger and hang their cage inside the tree close to a window. They will be much more likely to behave as they would in the wild. Remember to keep them (birds) and the tree out of any draft and do not place them near any air vents. Good luck.

Lovebirds are called that because mated pairs will sit close together, preen and feed each other, looking very "loving". Even their scientific genus, Agapornis is a reference to "love". That being said, you cant attribute human emotion to birds or other non-human creatures.

Birds has squabbles too. If the bite isn't serious it's fine. You need to monitor whether the bite are often and serious. If so you have to separate them.
