Jeep Wranglers are great im on my third, the motors are very tough and can go for long mileage if maintained, they also have good resale value and everyone loves a jeep. i worked at chrysler and we couldnt keep them on the lot and they rarley came in as much as other models for problems, i bought a 95 with 80k on it used at auction, i put a cap and wires and brakes ran it for another 20k no problems at all, and then sold it for 5k!

a '97 Jeep is a great vehicle but unless you're mechanically competent, I wouldn't buy ANY car with 120,000 miles.
For your six grand, you should be able to lease an '06 Jeep Wrangler. They' should be trying hard to unload them as there is a new Wrangler coming out soon. See your friendly neighborhood Chrysler-Jeep Dealer and tell'em Wicked Mickey sent ya!
...$6000 is probably a little high in the current market. There are quite a few fuel thirsty toys hitting the streets with for sale signs on them. You could probably find a newer mid-sized SUV (like a Ford Explorer or a Chevy TrailBlazer or even a Dodge Durango or a Jeep Cherokee for less than $6k.
...and contrary to other naysayers, as a Jeep owner myself ('86 CJ7) I will tell you the "cool" factor far outweighs limited cargo area. There are lots of aftermarket goodies you can use to solve your cargo ills.

No, this vehicle has probably be beat on and the gas mileage is poor for such a small truck. You don't need 4WD to get to a construction site, but you do need space for tools. A small pickup truck or van would fit the bill a lot better. Jeep Wranglers don't have a lot of cargo room unless they're the longer wheelbase.

It's hard to determine a value with so little information. But based on the averages, good condition - 85,000 miles - no special features (4 cyl, manual shift), $6000 is slightly high. If the vehicle is in good condition and you are a decent negotiator, I would offer a low-low price of $4800. Then work back and forth to settle on a number between $5000 and $5500.
Just saw the 120,000 miles. Then $6000 is very high! If it is in good condition as you say, then offer $3500 and settle for $4000 to $4500. If you cannot get it for less than $4500 - WALK AWAY!

It sounds high to me too... It is almost 10 years old. Did you check Kelley Blue book? It also depends on mileage, and over all condition though too. Good Luck! I'd check kelley, then offer them $4500. You don't know unless you ask :)
