You are right in a way. The Old Testament is about all the prophets, the kings, the Jewish Lineage, and there are a lot of prophecies in the Old Testament, that have been full filled. Read Isaiah, David, the Psalms. The new Testament tells the fullfilling of the prophets and except for the first four books, The Gospels, all the New Testament is writing inspired by God. Paul of Tarsus wrote many books in the New Testament as letters to churches and friends, but they were indeed inspired by God.

Yes, the entire Bible is the Word of God, and true Christians read and learn from both the Old and New Testaments. That said, Jesus came with the message that we are to love him and love God, and that the only way to God (meaning Heaven) is through him. That means that the dietary and other "laws" of the Old Testament, while they can be a good discipline are not necessary to get to heaven. Hope that helps.

The Old Testament was not sent by Jesus. The first five books were written by Moses and the rest details Israel's struggle to stay true to God. In the Old Testament, they sacrificed animals as a way to show repentance for their sins. They also had a high priest intercede for them. The New Testament is about Jesus and His teachings. Now, we do not need to sacrifice animals or talk to a high priest because we have Jesus. He took the place of all the rituals in the Old Testament. Now, you just need to follow Jesus, not a bunch of rules or regulations.

No. The New testament tells Christians that the Old Testament is an example for us to learn from. The laws in the Old Testament are for Jews only and are there to force them to use their sacrificial system for atonement of their sins. If you are a Christian-Jesus is your sacrifice. The Holy Spirit lives within you to tell you what is right and wrong-you do not need law to do that.

Christians should follow the entire bible. I have heard many people say that they don't have to follow the old testament because Jesus came to forgive sins and so anything they said in the old testament is not true. So does that mean you don't need to follow the ten commandments? That was in the old testament.

i'm getting a kick out of people that commence sentences of a concluding note with the be conscious "obviously" or "for sure" even as they obviously and obviously do not recognize what they are speaking about. back as a lot as verse 17 and take all of it in context. it truly is what's stumbled on interior the regulation and prophets that has the flair to be fulfilled or destroyed. this won't be able to be the legalities of the old covenant regulation, for there aren't any regulations codified interior the prophets. it really is about prophesies contemporary in both the regulation (first 5 books) and the prophets. Verse 19 starts a sparkling theory, and Jesus says "those" commandments, and by no ability "the" commandments or maybe an inference he's speaking about old covenant factors of regulation. He then proceeds to provide His followers "those" commandments, and interior the technique, alters factors of old covenant regulation way previous jots and tittles (not an iota, not a dot) or maybe negates old covenant regulation. So how can Jesus in a unmarried breath say the legalities of the regulation proceed to be inviolate, then turn round and violate that similar regulation? He won't be able to. .

yea but it's there in order for us to see how the new testament developed. if it was just the new testament we wouldn't know how those things came to be, so the old testament is there to show us what was it that led up to it. but Christians generally go by the new testament

No, in case you haven't noticed, a lot has changed since the Old Testament was written. A lot has changed since the New Testament was written also. Yes, we should follow Gods Biblical laws as a Christian as they pertain to todays word. But, you shouldn't take things to literally since it was written years ago.

gsumayya, my opionion for what it may be worth. The old testament is history, pertaining to Jesus's linage. it is the foundation blocks of christians.the stories and standards to live by were given for the people at that time in history, one might say the kindergarden of christaianity, Jesus gave seekers of his day two commandments,LOVE GOD,with all your heart, and all your might and the second like unto it,LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THY SELF,these two commandments do not replace the ten commandments but fulfill them. IF YOU LOVE GOD AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS THY SELF how could you possible break the ten commandments. LOVE whistle Britches
PS do you know Gurumaya???
