His preschool does do the butt wiping before we signed him up we let them know it was the first thing we talked about that he cant wipe his bottom and they said as long as we dont have a problem with them doing it then they can do it and they also said that most of their kids learned better from the teachers than the parents in this issue.

My son is had a hard time with that, he was over 5 before I had enough of that, but my daughter has been doing her own thing for a while, about the age of 3 for her. Try those flushable wipes.

Try to get him to use toilet paper. You will need to check to make sure he did a good job wiping because he is only 3. It just takes some time and being persistent on your part.

Both of mine could do this by the age of 3, although I did check for quite some time to be sure they did a good job. Preschools require kids to be totally potty trained, and most kids start preschool at age 3.

My oldest started to wipe around 4. When he first was getting potty trained we bought the flush wipes, and now he uses toilet paper. Goodluck!

butt wiping sucks. Get him those flush-able kid wipes and if his arms can reach, make him do it. I have three kids and they were all wiping themselves by 2.5. He's not really potty trained if he cant do it himself. So many of my friends have gotten stuck wiping their kid's butt though, so I do sympathize.
By the way, if your kid goes to daycare they are not going to want to wipe his butt. They expect a potty-trained kid to be able to handle his own business, and they are busy doing a million other things. I worked my way through college at daycares and all of them told parents they'd help out in that area and when it came down to it, none of them did. They will tell your kid to do it himself. So avoid the rash and the icky undies, make him do it.
Best Wishes.
