Iknowtruthismine, good question....I do think it is hurting a little, but without the metaphysics, we wouldn't have much physics.
It always starts as an idea

i fail to see the connection...unless you feel threatened that technology would somehow reveal deficiencies in your faith?...of your faith is strong nothing short of absolute proof of invalidity will be able to shake it...an occurrence that's unlikely in any scencario in the foreseeable future

I couldn't care less about spirituality, but I do think that there's a related point that does go with what you're thinking. The fact that we have easy access to so much information means that we can easily find support for whatever wacky worldviews we may hold. I'm not just talking about sites that specifically push certain conspiracy theories, but simply sites that provide information that we can interpret as support for the new conspiracy theories we come up with.

The facts don't uniquely support any one theory, and no collection of facts can completely refute a theory either. Human beings are terribly prone to something called "confirmation bias", in which we seek out information that agrees with what we already believe, and we do tend to become more sure of our beliefs the more of that information we come across. That means that our current technology is likely to make us more and more certain of our beliefs, regardless of whether or not those beliefs are true. The creationist websites are the best example of this, but the "moon landing hoax" stuff illustrates it clearly as well.

Dear Coreyusaf:

Your spiritual connection can not be hurt by anything. It is untouchable - sacred to the Creator.

Anything we would use to take us away from some time daily, or weekly, spent in recognition of our own Identity and heritage (the Kingdom) is a choice we make. And, we can use anything we look upon for that purpose. We have time for our Self. People even have little altars in their own homes. They light a candle, voila! Speak to Jesus or the Holy Spirit briefly. It isn't the length of time, you know? It's your intention - offered to Them.

Technology will never "give" the same exact fullfilment that Connection does - if we truly are able to make the Connection. Once we have learned to do that - nothing else takes precedence.

Technology can give contentment for some hours each day and exercise for the human "intellect," but it won't "give" you life. It won't make - all things right for you. It won't heal you when that is needed. Connection does.

While you are here in a physical world, I think we should enjoy what is available. But we should never take our eyes off the Morning Star; for, God is the brightness and energy force of our Beings. He is the Power of Thought that flows through us - that we may "invent" technology for ourselves.

No I don't think technology that is hurting us spirituality rather I believe its openness about sex and violence that is hurting us.

For an example look at the dolls in the Toy Store called Bratz, these dolls look like Street walking Whores. How can we raise children to be innocent and act proper when you have toys that look like Whores?

What about our Music scene- The more you take off and the more sex you give on stage means the more talented you are. So much for true music. These are a few of the major problems we face with being Spiritual. Passing on spirituality and teaching your children Godly values is becoming harder because the deep lust of the world is everywhere.

Technology is a gift from God, but when its used for evil motives such as the internet and spreading child porn, loring girls to go with older men, pornography, etc.
Thats when Technology becomes an enemy-

Perhaps if the tool becomes more important than the function it is intended to serve. If you mean technology as diversion from real problems than I would say yes. If you mean technology and the good that it brings to the world than no. The problem is more of moral latitude. How do you use technology? Does it hurt or help? Does it divert or strengthen?

This is a general thinking that it adversely affects spirituality. If technology is used for easiness, speed, information etc. etc. it is helpful to spirituality. What happens normally is when get into new technology, we forget the most important aim of our which is spirituality.

That should not happen.

No, I don't think so. Technological dependence isn't good or bad, in itself. If your love of technology gets in the way of your love of God, then it's got the wrong place in your heart and life. Anything that gets in the way of your relationship with God is out of place, that's all, unless it is something He has specifically asked that we either do in moderation or refrain from doing. I could be sitting on the porch watching the world go by, or sitting at my computer, or shopping, or just about anything; if it interferes with my relationship with God, I need to correct that and get things (all things, technological or otherwise) into their proper place.

I think sex and violence is hurting peoples spiritual lives more than technology. Technology helps us do stewardly things. Good things. Sex was supposed to be for creating life, now stupid jerks are having sex with eachother for fun. This world is getting worse and worse as it grows in the future.

Technology seems to be the antithesis of Spirituality, you're right. Though they are mutually exclusvie, they can be used in tandem. Like posing and answering questions on Yahoo! Answers in the Spirituality Category.

The only time I depend on technology is when I don't get any from my husband. It's always a spiritual experience.

technology is not the enemy and it can never be evil. if a man uses a rock to bash in a good person's head, does that make the rock evil? technology helps us communicate better and spread knowledge and ideas. spirituality like science is a quest for truth.
