When you say the Old Testament had old ideas and old teachings which is not appropriate in the modern times, thats why you have your New Testament with new beliefs. Just goes to say, from the Old Testament you were forbidden to eat pork, but now you do because your New Testament allows it. Why cant you leave the fact alone of Prophet Mohammad who married someone younger, almost around the same time of your Old Testament? Getting married at a young age was allowed then, but its not now.

It was "Not" allowed back then.

Muhammed did "Not" hear from God!

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

God would "Not" tell anyone who is 54 years old to have a sexual relationship with a young "Child"

That is called Child Molesting!

Here is what The Most High God has to say about this.

Luke 17:1-3
Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.

It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.

So watch yourselves.
"If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

It seems all of your "facts" are wrong. The old testament is very much part of our religion, the apostle Paul called it the shadow of things to come, a prophetic book.In the old testament there was no salvation, many things changed with the Messiah.

You said Mohammad was around the time of our old testament, (very wrong) Mohammad wasn't even around the time of the new testament. The new testament was completed around 95 AD.ALMOST TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO. the Muslim religion has only been around for 1200 years or so.Legally you can Marry younger but it would be a perversion to marry at the age of Aisha who was 8 years old. Are you condoning this?

All through our history older men with money took younger wives. Even now a 60 year old can marry a 17 year old who would gladly marry for a better life.

As we even out the world with democracy and freedom such things may be a thing of the past , but not yet.

The Old Testament is a good guide as far the history of the bible. The New Testament was written after Jesus was born. That is why it is called Grace and the Old Testament was under the law. When Jesus came and died for our sins we no longer had to live under the law and no longer had to offer up sacrifices. Jesus also made all meat clean. I don't know anything about Mohammad sorry, but girls still get married young. I was only 16 when I got married. And that is much too young.

I am amazed at the answers that have been posted to this question, every christian should know the answer, nothing has been changed from the teachings of the old testament, except, every one can be forgiven of their sins now, rich or poor, before christ if a person sinned he went to the preist , the preist charged him , monitarially, such as 3 fatted calfs or ???some if not most did't have the necesarry funds for forgiviness, so jesus was sent to make the ultimate sacrifice, his blood, there fore we are forgiven thru the blood of christ, no one including jesus had authority to change any thing in the bible , except the forgiviness, peters vision onn the roof top did not change any thing, if you think soshow me where or why you believe such

Those who say the Old is passed away, may pass away them selves!

The Law is not changed! The stories are perhaps more important today then when they happened.

Now the weirdo's come out to say well do you agree with slavery, child marriage, etc...

No! I live in a moder world, I have never seen in history a nation who had slaves did well.
Look at Rome, The US south, even Israel, has not all its land.

But the Law speaks of servants, now I wish I was rich enough to have a Butler but at $100,000 year for one I guess I will not.

There is a lot in the Old Testaments that we can use today, if we have wisdom and understanding, to make it out, it will do us well.

The New testament is about Jesus and the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. No one says it's not appropriate for modern times. Why don't you read and STUDY the bible?

For your information, the New Testament was not written to replace the Old Testament. I have stated on here many, many times that the Old Testament foretells, the New Testament fullfills.

I wasn't aware the marital antics of Mohammad was an issue...

The main reason marriage to minors is widely unacceptable, is because of the sexual nature of humans in modern day society.
We cannot trust that thirty year old men, will treat their young wives appropriatley.

In the time of the Old Testament, sex amongst Christian marriages, was not taken lightly. There was little threat of molestation, abuse etc.

I don't know anything about Prophet Mohammad or how old the person was he married. If the person was a child, then that is of course wrong. If the person is an adult, well, then, that's their choice. I tend to try not to judge others. That is up to God.

2Timothy4:17 says that All Scripture is inspired of Godand beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight that includes both the old and the new testaments that the man (or woman)of God may be fully competent, fully equipped for every good work.
