If my dad yelled at me all the time, I would be afraid of him. It is weird, but its not you, its your dad that has the problem. Can you get your mom to intercede? If not and you think its abusive, then find a trusted adult to talk to about it. You have the right to not be afraid of your parents, so do your sister.

Most dads are scary. That is their job. Normal to be scarred, well perhaps a little, really frightened no. If your sisters are at that point then dad has gone too far. To make proper judgement more info would be needed on dad

No one should be afraid of there father. Someone should talk to him about the yelling. This may affect them when they get older, even you. This can take a lot of trust away from other men. You may grow to never trust men. I mean if you are afraid of your dad, who knows who you will be afraid of in the future. If you can't trust a man who helped give you life who can you trust?

i was DEATHLY afraid of my dad til about 49! Now that I'm no longer afraid, i bitterly hate his rotten guts and would like to KILL him now - but he's already dead!
no, it's not normal or healthy - but just wonderful for the abusive, controlling parent.
call CPS (they weren't around when i grew up), get counseling, do self-esteem work to counter the dad's bad influence, FIND HELP where ever you can if you're under age.

Normal?? Sounds like he is a very frustrated man...it is normal to be afraid of him if he is doing more than yelling...is he a big man with a loud voice? are you all doing something that gets him angry? if he is just yelling maybe someone can talk to him to let him know how everyone feels..if that is not possible someone at school needs to know because it can turn into more than yelling.Good Luck..I hate to see kids being tormented by their parents.

its not right to be scared of your dad but some fathers feel having their child scared gives them the sense of control needed to control discipline when all they dont realise is its respect they need, maybe he dosent mean to scare them, just trying to be a dad just got it a little wrong, maybe he needs someone to have a quiet word and explain that your sisters are going to end up growing to be against your father and wont feel what a child should,a child needs to feel safe around there father not scared.

unfortunately, a lot of kids are or have been afraid of their father. sometimes..there was a need to be.. other times... it is his size.... the tone of his voice... and if he yells.. alot... that adds to the fear.. that he just might follow up with something physical. you seem not to be afraid.. maybe you or an adult.. can hip daddy to the affect he is having on his young daughters. he may not even beaware. .. he may also be like the dog whose bark is worse than his bite.

not afraid but respectful! nobody likes to be yelled at! no matter by who it is or how old you are. your dad needs to try to calm down before he bust a blood vessel or have a heart attack! he knows it is not good to yell all the time at his kids or maybe he doesn't! i wonder if his father, your grandfather or grandmother, yelled at him?
