I don't want anything fancy!! his crib is a rochester cherry, and the bedding is a french blue & white, and the blankets, sheets, diaper pale, toy stacker valances, all have french blue & white gingham around the edges.

Might sound funny, but browns would be really pretty.
Do a brown reddish color on the bottom on wainscoat (if you feel like putting that up, or make a chair rail and paint the wall below it this color, 3/4 of the way up) then paint above that the same color several shades lighter, or, paint it a dark beige color.
It would really bring out the other colors you've chosen.
And it's more relaxing than some other bright color. You don't want to over-do it:)

I'd use an egg-shell white that has the tendency to shift to a very light blue.

I would paint the room an off red.. a red that has more of a bluish cast to it than say one with more yellow. A deep red would be nice. A bit brighter for baby would be nice.
