I am a christian but I am not religious which is a big differance. One has to do with the love and sacrifice of Jesus, the other is more concerned about ritual, rules and earning your way into heaven. It can not be earned, it is given freely simply by believing that Jesus made a way to get there through what he did . But people can't seem to accept that because earning it would give them more credit. It's a pride issue, I guess. "I'm good, I'm stong, I'm perfect, etc." But, you see , no one can be that perfect, except Jesus. That's the point, he'll stand stand before God, in his perfection, for you. You don't have to be perfect, you just have to believe he is and that he loves you enough to not let you be lost forever. Because we recignize he wants this for us, THAT is why we want to live a life that is in line with what he created us to be. He created us to be good. That's why it feels wrong not to be...it's against the design.

You have to be more specific. Do you mean the holy roller, fundamentalist, everybody else is going to hell kind or the people who simply believe there is a god and Jesus was his son. i'm one of the latter, and I really don't want to be lumped in with the former.

I'm proud to not be a Christian. Especially when you hear bigoted and arrogant remarks coming from those who proclaim themselves to be Christian.
