Islam is at best an upstart religion. Mohamad was suposed to be the last prophet, he arose to power after jesus arose to GOD. Islam is a religion that pretends to worship the same GOD but is't real purpose is hidden in the quaran. Undesipherable to most. Islam is a male dominated religion that requires strict adherance to the laws of islam. It leaves no room for other beliefes or ways of life. Being different simply is not tolerated. Islam gained it's strength with ignorant poor men who were looking for a utopia after death. Now it's keeping it's strength by promising male dominated societies with women as second class citizens. Personally I think any society that uses religion as an excuse for violence doesn't understand what their religion really stands for. Saying that leaves a whole lot of societies out in the cold doesn't it. How many wars have been fought over the centuries over who's religion is best. It's no different today, we are still fighting wars and killing people over religious diferences. Solutions. now none. In the future eleminate poverty, corporate greed, corrupt governments, human greed, religious greed. How will this utopia happen, my guess a major world wide disaster that will bring those that are left down to one common denominator, survival. Hopefully enough people left that remember what we were and what we don't want to be again. Rebuild as a united world. Not a divided world.

Islam (Arabic: الإسلام; al-islām (help·info)) is a monotheistic religion based upon the Qur'an, which adherents believe was sent by God (Arabic: Allāh) through Muhammad. Followers of Islam, known as Muslims (Arabic: مسلم), believe Muhammad to have been God's final prophet; most of them see the historic record of the actions and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad related in the Hadith and Sunnah as indispensable tools for interpreting the Qur'an.

Like Judaism and Christianity, Islam is considered an Abrahamic religion.[1] With a total of approximately 1.4 billion adherents, Islam is the second-largest religion in the world and claims to be the world's fastest growing religion [2]. The majority of Muslims are not Arabs (in fact only 20 percent of Muslims originate from Arab countries). [3] At current rates, Islam will soon become the second largest religion in the United States, [4] and it is already the second largest faith in the UK.

Secular historians place Islam's beginnings during the late 7th century in Arabia. Under the leadership of Muhammad and his successors, Islam rapidly spread by religious conversion and military conquest.[5] Today, followers of Islam may be found throughout the world, particularly in the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Islam is a general term for the myriad denominations of those who follow mohammeds teachings. Its an ancient religion, often called an abrahamic religion, the same as judaisma and christianity.
Each sect has no heirachy as such, it is more a case of the more learned and "faithful" to the original teachings, the more power and influence one has. It is therefore as has been pointed out to me before, that the term peaceful muslim is in fact an oxymoron, as those who would be the leaders must show their absolute committment to the whole of the quran, including death to the unbelievers and infidels (yet ignore mohammads exortation that women are equals).
It has been hijacked by militants for many decades and as such is now tarred with a foul and violent reputation that other muslims have not stood up and decried, as one cannot stand against another muslim.
In short, it is an archaic religion, organised by powerhungry and archaic minds who reject western ideals despite the hypocrasy of benefitting from them. I would ban it for the damage it does to nations who pander to it. The majority of british muslims say they are muslim first, and british second. Where exactly is their loyalty to the country who offered them safe harbour when they were fleeing persecution? Render unto gods what is gods, and render unto caesar your patriotic loyalty, not your religion.

Trying to be open minded I like to study all religions and started reading the Qumran. It doesn't have a creation story of how man got here. It seems like ramblings, of death murder and torturing the captives who dare to disagree. Then Jesus said; Test a person or religion by its fruits. Does it produce better people?
Better husbands and fathers, better wives and mothers.
What is the actions of those leaders in that religion? Are they helping the people or hurting them. Do they stifle creativity or encourage it. What have they managed to accomplish in making the world a better place to live in? So that a person would believe that if all people were that religion the world would be a better place. More kind, more tolerant, and generous.
forgiving and helpful. These are all things we have to think about.
that is the true test of the true religion. Satan is the God of disorder not of peace the bible says. If religion does not promote peace it is not from god. Wether it is Muslim or Christian.

it's just like any other religions in the world that guides people to be good. the only difference is you can find the truth in it and you'll see how it completes judaism and christianity. the only problem now is because of one or two twisted minds that gave islam a bad name, it's now the most misunderstood religion...
