Mine had permission to date at 16, however I made my home always open to group parties (their father and I were ALWAYS there), so that they could socialize in a safe environment. They actually all did this until one of my daughters got her own home (after college). No drugs, no underage drinking, no drinking and driving and no one got pregnant before age 21.

Don't tell your daughter something, even in jest, that isn't true. These next ten years need to be consistent so that you can build enough trust to let your 16yr old go out for the evening and not kill yourself with worry. Its like watching them walk or go to school for the first time, its the unknown and you are scared to death but you have to push them for their sake. Make sure she can take care of herself and that her self esteem isn't such that the first time a boy tells her that he loves her, she believes him and you become a grandmother way before you want to.

You're absolutely right! That's a good time. 10 is wayyyy too young. 25 is wayyyy too old. I'm allowed to marry by the time im 25 (thats what my mother told me).
Dating, on the other hand. She needs to be mature and responsible enough. Atleast 15!!
I know everyone else does it starting from even the age of 12!!
Set limits and tell her if she shows some resposibility and she understands then maybe if she's 14 or 13. Under 13 is way too young. Even 13 is young.
If you tell her 25, she's going to date anyway if she wants. There's no way she'll wait 15 yrs. You both need to give up some!!
And always let her know that you'll be there for her but not if she makes so crazy biiiggg mistake :)
good luck

Well, I too have a 10 yr old daughter (11 in 2 weeks). She had her first boyfriend last August and they "lasted" until December at the X-mas dance. At the break up, another boy asked my daughter to be his girlfriend and mending her broken heart. They have been "boyfriend/girlfriend" 8 months now. My husband and I have met his parents and done things together as "family". They do not date per say, but they do things together at each others homes and with families.

Think about it, it's not like you can really "date" at this age anyway. Where can they go? How can they get there? Only by a parent.

My daughter & her boyfriend have hugged each other, kissed each other on the check only and of course they hold hands all the time. But, my husband and I have a very open relationship with our daughters and beleive it or not, they tell us everything that goes on with them. Sometimes, we can't get them to stop telling us so much.

I believe if you give them the chance to experience having a boyfriend and the heartache that comes with break-ups, when the get really old enough to go out on a real date and have to deal with all the emotions, she will be a lot stronger and wiser.

I hope this little bit has helped you. Good luck to you and your family.

nicely, authentic relationship implies a romantic connection. various youthful childrens say they are "relationship" yet rather they are basically going out with a buddy who happens to be the alternative intercourse. So in case you would be relationship for actual, as in romantically i could say sixteen years previous, perhaps 15 if the baby is exceedingly mature. 13 or 14 is far too youthful, except that's something like going to a baseball pastime which comprise your mum and dad there, etc. BTW, lots of the human beings who inform you that 13 or 14 is superb are in all threat below sixteen themselves. No offense to them, yet they are actual no longer the final ones to grant advice, as a results of fact whilst they are 18 or 21 they arrive to realize how plenty they didnt understand whilst they have been 17 or below. Im basically sayin.

It is so hard to think about that now days. Kids are having sex at such young ages, its unbelieveable. But I would say (if it were me) around 16 for group dates or shapperone. Around 17 or 18 for regular dating. Just remember to have talks about things that are right and wrong, and try to get them to understand the importance of waiting to have sex until they are married. There are so many STD's out there, their chances of catching something is outrageously high. Hope this helps.....

I think 10 is way too young.
You have to retake control and not give in to your pre-pubescent child.
Remember the boundaries.
Respect has to be earned.
I agree with you. 16 is ideal, but perhaps not possible in this day and age!
Keep her indoors after 8.30 pm. Keep her safe from predators.
My girl is 8.
So far this issue has not arisen. Will become mummy tiger when it does. What I say goes....

I'd say 16 is a good age.

10 years old as I'm sure you know is way too young to even begin thinking about dating.

I would say 14 in a group, 16 alone.

let her start now. then when she's knocked up at 15 and working 3 jobs b/c she quit school trying to support her kids, she'll learn to hate men.
