To come over to have a gathering to get to know each other. It turned out to be a "conversion" "ceremony". They were very friendly. At that point in my life I was doubting the existence of god. They told us that if we wanted to let jesus into out hearts we could stay, if not we could leave if we wanted. I wanted to stay for the hell of it to see what they were going to do. We gathered in a circle, and the man went from each person and "blessed" them, telling them to let the love of jesus into our hearts. He reached me, and is if I expected a magical spirit or something to swoop through me, nothing happened. I felt nothing. he asked me if I felt jesus, I just said yes, because I suddenly became afriad of these people. I went home almost immediately afterwards, I told my mom what happened. She got so angry about them and told me not to go around them anymore. Have you had an experience such as this? What do you think of Christians who invite people over to convert them?

I am a Christian, but I think that the tactics they used were deceptive. No question about it. You don't convert people by putting them in intimidating situations and expect them to believe. It's not the way Jesus taught. I agree with your mother that you should not go aroudn them anymore.

Is an adult get mutually the type of undesirable element? not extremely. saying it on the get mutually became probably not the great concept, yet there is not something you could do about it now. There are positives to having an all adult reception. You and your husband could have an nighttime out. A romantic nighttime out with out toddlers is a appealing element!!! and that i understand you may compared to their decision, even with the undeniable fact that it really is THEIR wedding ceremony, and also you could not be mad at them for his or her selection. i'm really particular they did not do it purely to spite you and your daughters. when you're close to to the groom, you could flow to help him. The bathe isn't only for her, this is for both one in each of them. Are the youngsters invited to that? My cousin lately were given married, and had a adult reception. the youngsters of the kinfolk were, even with the undeniable fact that, invited to the ceremony. the more youthful cousins (both about your daughters age) surpassed out classes and greeted travelers as they got here in. After the marriage the youngsters all went to my Aunt's living house and had a large previous close eye get mutually there, even as the adults were whooping it up on the reception. per chance your daughters can get which includes the different childrens of the kinfolk and characteristic a close eye get mutually. which could keep them occupied for the nighttime, and they'd have an extremely good time. good success.

I am truly sorry for your experience, most Christians are not like that, and i have never had an experience like that most Christians will invite you to church of a bible study, so you know what to expect when of if you get there, ops I made a misstatement, I did have a similar experience, and ended up at a Amway meeting, I never bought anything and never went back to their house again.

I had a similar experience but was probably 17 and was a lot less willing to buy into their sales pitch. I was outside of a mall when a group of girls drove by and asked me if I wanted to go to a party... of course I said yes and got into the car with them... to my disappointment they took me to a office building and there was a short Christian film we were shown (myself and the other suckers the had found). The bottom line was that they were trying to get teens interested in their Christian youth group.

I am against people proselytizing in any form.

I am a christian and I believe that those people were deceived. That is not biblical. Conversion ceremonies? That is not the way people find Jesus. It has to be a choice in their hearts, not something that they were pushed into believing. Those people were taught and are teaching wrong things. I hope that if you want to know Jesus, that you persue him on your own. He will answer you. God Bless

You must be careful of ppl who SAY they are Christian but act differently. I don't know if this family are indeed Christian but they should have been in touch with underage kid's parents before having them in their house for something like this. Since they didn't and they also got everyone there under false pretense I feel like this was for some other reasons. Keep following your instincts like you did. When you personally meet Jesus and you want Him in your heart, you will definitely FEEL and KNOW the joy and love that He can give. I pray that you will not meet up with others like that family in your search for truth.

Baaah, people like that are ignorant christians.
(saying this from a christian point of view)
I am a christian and I think that everyone understands the creation of existance at one point in their lives, its different for everyone.

I just know I believe that we have a creator, whether you like to call it God of Allah or anything, and I also believe in divine nature and a thing called love.
And love will never fail us. Ever.

Wow, are you my long lost sister? That happened to me in jr. High and I went to church with my friend to play vollyball. The same thing ended up happening. When my mom came to pick me up she walked in during the whole thing and was like WOW! You aren't going back there again. She said when you are old enough to make up your mind for yourself you can choose what direction you want to go in, but I will be damned if you are going to be brain washed, or lured into it.

That was certainly a different approach. Unfortunately God accepts anyone into His family. Even people with major "control issues".

It takes a certain amount of trust in God and maturity to have faith and pray for people and talk to them when they are receptive not try to force the Lord on people

I apologize to you on behalf of the body of Christ and pray that you will loose your fear of Christians.
