People do all kinds of things in the name of God and Jesus that He did not mandate, request, sanction, command or will. People do what they want to do, then find ways to justify what they're doing.

God knows what He has told someone to do and what He hasn't, and in the end He will reveal what was done according to His will and what was done according to man's own will, desires, lusts, greed, malice.

People's actions cannot be used fairly as an excuse to reject God. God will not buy that one. God is good, perfect, just, merciful, loving and fair. If someone does something against His will but in His name, we cannot hold that against God. And in the end, He won't allow us to.

In the end, each person will be accountable to God and there will be no room for excuses or self-justification. Either we sought God and allowed Him to transform us, or we didn't.

God will judge every person with fairness, and will judge the intents and motives of each person's heart.

You are quite right. The very real problem with organized religion is that they mold the rules to suit themselves. So the bible says that you should not judge but Christians feel compelled to Judge. The bible says "Thou shalt not kill" so preachers like Robertson and Magee incite murder or recommend dropping nuclear weapons on Iran. The Bible says that it is harder for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle so the TV preachers line their pockets to the tune of millions of dollars per year. Then we have TV preachers who condemn promiscuity and sleep with prostitutes.

And then the Christians protest when they are called hypocrites. The Christian religion has been trashed by these people. They claim they are persecuted. If what their religion says is correct they have a lot worse coming when God Judges them. Odious beings that they are that they drag the name of Jesus through the muck.

Instead of giving the Sermon on the Mount Jesus should have saved his breath and said whatever YOU decide to do is OK because you decide the rules not God. What a pathetic religion.

Having read some of the comments about the distinction between killing and murder perhaps Christianity is the bloodthirsty religion it has been for the past 2000 years. How comforting to know that you can be justified in 'killing' someone by just saying that it wasn't 'murder'.

It looks like you have a good understanding already. Genesis 6:5-6, 11-13 clearly reveals how God feels about violence. See http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%206:5-6,%2011-13;&version=31;

God gave us His laws, prophets, and His Son to teach us a way to live in peace and harmony without violence. When God's Son, the Christ returns, He'll set up His Kingdom on earth so that peace and harmony will be a reality. Checkout the free literature, at http://www.gnmagazine.org/litreq/index.htm , that supports what I say.

There is a fault with your question the makes the argument void. The Bible says "do not murder," which is very different than "do not kill." Murder is killing innocent people, but none of the people killed in the wars were innocent. There are more reasons behind this, but I really don't feel like going into it right now because I feel lazy:) email me at factorfiction16@yahoo.com if you really want to know...

Because it seemed like a good answer at the time. These people are not fighting to defend God or His honor. The Bible tells us to wear the whole armor of God. He doesn't say anything about blowing a country off the face of the Earth and saying that it's because they don't believe in Him. That is man being man. And check out verse 12 below.

Ephesians
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It doesn't say "Thou shalt not kill." That is a mistranslation.

It says "Thou shalt not murder."

Killing in the name of God is encouraged throughout the Bible. Remember Moses killing the Egyptians in the name of God? How about the Israelite conquest of the Philistines? How about the part in Deuteronomy where it says to kill everyone who worships a pagan god?

If you don't remember any of that, maybe you should actually read the Bible before trying to tell everyone else what it says.

Because the Christians are hypocrites and the entire bible is a contradiction of itself. Just turn a page, or think about the GOD. There we go, another contradiction. If he is all knowing, then he already knows who is going to hell, and if he knows everything, there is no free will because whatever we do, we will go to hell since it has already been written in the books. And if there is no free will, then we obviously have no purpose, we are just pawns of some evil GOD who likes to condemn us to hell.

That or people are completely idiots buying into this propaganda... called "The Bible"

you know what that its so true what you are saying on the first paragraph just because people say in the name of god. that has nothing to do with god and personally god has nothing to do with it he is good and hi is love therefore he is out of violence completely and we have to make right choices because at the end god will judge us like you said every one personally. i agree with you but for some people it is hard to understand i don't know why it is so clear.

The Bible is the main necessary e book ever written as a results of fact it teaches humankind the thank you to act with a view to proceed to exist. It relatively tells us that it relatively is no longer alright to kill with a view to thieve, notwithstanding it is alright to kill to guard ones own life or the life of others who're threatened with the aid of the guy they kill in protection. different than: whilst territorial wars are happening. and there's a time for conflict and a time for peace. human beings, like countless different creatures with spirit, are endowed with an instinct to hold the inhabitants right down to length as quickly as we exchange into too distinctive. because they don't interpret the bible the same as the peaceful christians...and you have to read the whole bible--in many places people kill for god and are presumably not punished...some stories are to make a point about something else and are not about the killing. killing, mutilating, rape was accepted then. the rules have changed in today's culture.

I believe that the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." (Ex.20:13 below) can also be stated, as Jesus said, "Thou shalt do no murder." (Matt.19:18 below).

Ex.20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Matt.19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
