You've got Apostle's, Nicean, Athanasian creeds for basic doctrinal beliefs, but things start breaking down when you get to details. What's a baptismal form "all Christians" can accept as valid (and at what age?), from Amish to Baptist to Roman Catholic to Quaker? Or a version/translation of the Bible that can be used in all Christian churches? Proper way of celebrating Holy Communion (assuming it's settled whether it's a memorial feast or whether the body and blood of Jesus is indeed present). I'm wondering about this because of the number of churches that are trying to come into confessional fellowship with each other. (Would prefer answers that are a bit better formulated than "read verse suchandsuch," please; appeals to authority are not what's wanted. However, I welcome personal opinions of "I'd like to see X...because....and it combines elements from...", or similar thoughtful responses.)

i think, basically, it'd be something like this, "there was this guy, jesus (in the modern parlance), and he had some good things to say." - bring on the religious wars! seriously, that's about all that EVERY christian believes (or claims to).

Hi, you answered my question regarding the standard of living in 1865. Obviously, from your answer, I can see that you are mentally retarded.

You're going to have to be a LOT more explicit before we can aim you in the direction of some good references and books!

Rural or urban people? Which section of the US?--it was considerably different in the North and South....and in the developing West. Blacks, native-born whites, or foreign-born whites? Are you looking for what an "average day in the life of a common laborer" was like, or what? Details, please. okay, my question was simple: what was the standard of living in 1865. that contains a broad spectrum of topics, but obviously if i hadn't specified it mean that anything would do. Use your brain dipshit.
An economist friend was wondering if you wanted to know about the GDP (gross domestic product--total value of goods and services produced in the country yearly) Actually, gross domestic product in the total market value of all final goods and services produced in any country within a given year, equal to total consumer, investment and government spending, plus the value of exports, minus the value of imports. get it right as a measure of standard of living. Remember that we don't light with candlesthe light bulb, electricity, and even refrigerators were already invented by then and they don't buy Toyotas and computers, so direct comparisons are going to be a little AWKWARDwow, your used this word rather...akwardly... Please refine your query and resubmit.dont tell me what the **** to do.thanks

next time, if you're not of caliber in intelligence, its best to NOT ANSWER. you are an idiot.

I believe that all assemblies have to agree on certain doctrines in order to be considered part of the Church, the body of believers, past, present and future. They must believe that God is, that He is one God, in three distinct persons. They must believe that God created all things as it is written in Scripture. They must believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived the perfect sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. They must accept that the Bible is the inerrant word of God in doctrine, history and ethics, and that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. I think these are very basic beliefs that all Christians must accept to be considered part of the Church. A lot of the other stuff is based on traditions and interpretations of certain biblical passages. The Church will be of one mind in all things when we are together in Heaven, but while we are here, and have imperfect understanding, we will be divided on certain issues.
