The guy always has to ask the girl out. Guys like to chase girls (metaphorically speaking). If you ask him it takes that away from him. So you need to let the guys be the leaders. And you should never have to pay for your food while on a date. He should always pay. If you have more questions about this kinda thing you can read the following books: Dateable, The Dirt On Dating, and The Dirt On Breaking Up. They are really good books with really good tips.

I think that even if the girl is the one that asks the guy out, the guy should still be the one to pay. But the guy might not feel the same way. Bring extra money in case he thinks you should be the one to pay, or your best bet might be to just share the cost on the first date.

Show your interest - clearly, but let him ask you out. Some may like to be asked out, but the larger majority prefer to make the first move. Guys are competitive my nature, like a challenge, and prefer to make the moves. Right or wrong, you cannot change nature. I wish you the best!

I don't know... I'd say to be safe, take the money that you'd need for you and him with you. Don't say anything about paying to him, and if he insists on paying, then let him. If he doesn't, then you may have to pay your way in. If he didn't bring any money for himself (which would be wrong and moocher-ish), then say that you'll pay 'this one time'. Then he should get the drift that you'd prefer he be a boyfriend and pay. ;D Good luck, hun!

I would suggest that you ask him and at the same time suggest that we go dutch so that no one has to wonder who is going have to pay

ask him.
if you invite him to specific plans, certainly offer to pay, but realize that most guys prefer to pay on first dates, it's an ego thing. But be prepared to ask since you are inviting him.

don't ask him out, let him ask you out. but if you do ask him out, just assume he going to pay. if he doesnt pay for the date, don't date him again. if you start paying, he is gonna think you are desperate.
