ALL dogs shed a little! They are not dissimilar to us in that respect. We loose approx 100 hairs a day and animals are no different. The longer hair dogs shedding is more noticeable b/c of the longer hair.

NO Shih-tzus do not shed. They have hair instead of fur, they do lose hair just like all living things (even people) but they don't leave tons of fur all over like short haired dogs do.

Other dogs that are good for allergy sufferers (to name a few) are:

Poodle
Havanese
Schnauzer
Bichon Frise
Yorkshire terrier
Maltese
Portuguese water dog

Generally if the dog has hair that continually grows and needs to be clipped they are usually OK for people with allergies.

Nope, I have an 8 year old female, No shedding but they need frequent brushing due to the longer coat. The dogs also have problems with skin allergies caused by food, fleas, and environmental factors. Overall I am happy with my Shitzu. She is good with kids and happy to sit by my feet. Do your homework and watch for puppy mill shitzus. The are notorious for leg/knee problems.

Try a poodle or a labradoodle. I've heard those are better for allergies. Shitzus do shed.

Shih tzus don't shed. Alot of my tzu have gone to a home where some one has allergies. They said there doc told them to get a shih tzu. They all love them and have not problems.

By the way they only shed about a much as you do.

all dogs shed it is based on the weather. It is just that some dogs have less hair or shorter hair than others. if you want one that doesn't shed get something like a hairless chawawa (heck I don't know how to spell that but you know what I mean)

Yes, they shed so not good for people with allergies. Maybe try a bichon frise.

no, shih tzus do not shed. they do not have a double coat (it's the undercoat of a dog that actually sheds), so they do not shed. maltese, poodles, and lhasa apsos do not shed either.
