I have a wedding I have to go to in four days, and I woke up today with this huge cold sore. What's the fastest way to get rid of it?

I suggest you go to your doctor and get a prescription for Valtrex. Cold sores are lesions from the herpes virus. If you can't get to the doctor in time, try Abreva. It is the next best thing to Valtrex. Apply it 4 to 6 times a day, EVERY day.

Buy some Blistex and put it on the sore every half hour. If you cant do it that often just put it on as often as you can. It's really good medicine. You should be able to find it at any drugstore.

Buy this very expensive stuff called Abreva...it works pretty much overnight but it's like $12 for a little tube. I'm telling ya, it's great though!

if you already have the viral infection herpes, the only way to prevent them is to be on a drug regimen.
Zovirax is very common and works well. it comes in a pill and a cream.
the best prevention is never come in contact w/a person who has them.
both my mother and grandmother had them. my mom was successful in preventing my sister and I from getting them for 42 years until her death.
Now I am getting them. I suspect a face cream of hers I was using could've been contaminated.
Anyway, now I am faced with dealing with them.
My mother told me how her mother swore that using full strength perfume dabbed on the site at the first sign of a breakout stopped them from popping up. i think my mom used this later in her life.
so, now that i have gotten a few, i have tried it. and IT WORKS.

home remedy = vanilla extract
store remedy = carmex, herpecin, any other leading cold sore brand.

Buy yourself some viractin and that really helps get rid of them fast that is all I use
