It is just mythology, and stories. They like this section, because it makes them feel special, and separate from the Greeks. They see extinct religions, and don't want to be in the same category, because that makes them realize their religion will be gone one day in the future.

They probably should be put under the same heading, but you have to understand that the administration is trying to avoid offending as many people as they possibley can. A lot of people believe their religion is more accurate than "mythology." Such people are in the majority.

I like the idea, but don't expect much support. The Greeks would be very annoyed to know that we aren't considering their religion a religion.

All religious people believe their own religion to be the only true and valid one, and the all the other religions to be 'wrong'. It's the nature of religious belief to think that way.
The rest of us understand that it is ALL mythology, but good luck getting them to realize that.

Religion = stories that groups of people currently believe to be true.
Mythology = stories that groups of people USED to belive to be true.
That's why Hindus got upset when an episode of "Xena - Warrior Princess" featured her meeting up with Krishna, a deity that is still widely worshipped today. She met with Jesus too, but they changed his name (to Eli) to prevent any public relations problem.
