I've known several Gays and Lesbians in the Military. Some stayed in until they retired at 20 to 30 years of service. I've known Gay vietnam vets, one even earned the bronze star for his service in Vietnam. I've known gay Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Soldiers and Guardsmen.

Because people are scared of anything or anyone different.

The same things were said when blacks and then women were first allowed in the military. There are a few bad people in every group who ruin it for the rest.

I was in for over 20 years and retired as an E8. I have to say that I had far less trouble from minorities than white males ashore or aboard ship.

We should all be proud of anyone who wants to serve our country, who cares what their sexual preference is as long as they get the job done!!

I agree with you.

The problem is the immature, confused straight people who can't handle it.

I'm OK with "don't ask, don't tell", but still....it's so immature in the grand scheme of things.

I could care less what someone does or who they do on their own time. I just want someone I can count on to do the job.
