That's not really true.
I see alot of good looking men with average to homely women and vice versa.
It's usually only the self centered type people that go for looks before anything else.
People are looking for more in relationships and arent' settling on someone just becasue they look good.
I would rather date 100 not so good looking men than date one gorgeous man who is completely stuck on himself. I kinda class them as losers and completely pathetic.
Beautiful girls need love too after all, the same as everyone else, no one likes to be alone.
But it all boils down to preference, what you like in a woman. If it's only physical things you think about then that's your answer. It because you choose to only look at their looks rather than what she might or might not have to offer.

Remember that "beautiful" and "ugly" are entirely in the eye of the beholder. 'Way back when, Dick Cavett had Raquel Welch and Janis Joplin on his show one night. He said "Tonight we have with us Beauty and the Beast" and there was this gasp from the audience, after which he smiled and contined "...of course, which is which, depends on where you're coming from."
Some guys like skinny girls with every bone showing. Some guys like curvy plump girls. Some like short hair, some like long, some like a gal slathered with makeup, others like the clean look. So yeah, I'd choose a beautiful girl, but she probably wouldn't be the same one you'd choose, because we all have different standards of beauty! (I'm for curvy, older, smiling types who know who they are. Anorexic bottle blondes with plastic boobs and sullen expressions may adorn magazine covers, but they hold no charm for me.)

Because ugly girls don't make their thing go up, and that's what's important to boys. Some will say "Natural Selection"... But it's the same darn thing. That's why they will put up with a bit** who's hot. A very kind lady who's got lots a love to give is not enough, even if she's rich, if she can't risen the cap up, she's no good for nothing...
And boys will remain boys forever, they just don't grow up... Look at ipaw44's answer!!

That's not true. If you are an ugly sod even the ugly girls won't look at you. I am not speaking from personal experience. Yeah, right !

Vanity... and because they can't see beyond the wrapping paper... bet they're first in the complaints queue when that hidden 'beauty' turns out to be faulty though... so smile knowingly, and don't give them another thought... because looks aint everything, only maturity and sometimes, many mistakes, teach us this!

It's biological. A guy has a native impulse to want his kids to be as good-looking as possible, because they generally have the best change for happiness and survival, so he has a tendency to want to choose the best looking partner possible.

if a guy wants a decent relationship he would have to go for a personality. what person wants a stuck up girl?? i know to many people who are only with people because of their looks, and thats all they see past. when they really see whats underneath it will make the world of difference.

It's human nature. Both men and women are attracted to what they see as beautiful.

guys are shallow, appearances mean everything, at first. how much can they stand of a beautiful, totally horrible obnoxious girl, versus someone who is charming, funny and easygoing? it all works out in the end.
