Plain a simple, NO!! If you look at the list of gifts, the gift of tongues is last on the lineup, the least important. Nowhere does it say that to have the Holy Spirit you have to have the gift of tongues. It is very much misrepresented and misunderstood. Nowhere does it say you should have an unintelligable language that is supposed to be a heavenly language. Everywhere you find tongues presented, it states you need an interpreter if you use a different tongue, or language and if you do not, it is not to edify God but for the edification of man which is not to be done. Tongue is simply language and is not required as a lot will tell you.

There are different kinds of tongues.
your not to speak out in church if you don't have an interpreter.
the holy spirit never confuses only enlightens.
But tongues are a way that you can speak honestly through the holy spirit with god. IT is not necessary to be a christian, and you should never think your special for doing it. it's only because of GOD you may or may not get the gift.
I must say it is awesome to be anointed though.

One does not need to speak in tongues to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I speak in English and Spanish. English and Spanish are languages, or tongues, which is the same. And I speak in Spanish because I live in a Spanish speaking country. And I speak in English because I am an English teacher, so it's my job.
In conclusion, yes. I HAVE to speak in tongues.

Speaking in tongues is a manifestation of self-induced hysteria. It is very close to complete psychosis.

No... I'm a Christian, and neither I nor anyone I personally know has ever spoken in tongues.

No but its amazing when it happens to someone right in front of you...its god speaking through someone sometimes it can be interpeteded by someone else and they say what god it saying to the other person...pretty cool...
