for simpler conversion: a titch over a half pound
If you're cooking, use a one cup measure and mound the top a little. That should do it.
If it's a common problem, get a measuring cup that's marked in both. They're not hard to find. Some of my favorite recipes were collected in Europe, so I have a dual-marked measuring cup.

Dificult time taking process.
Melting the 250 gm weight and again moulding into weights of 16 nos. ounxe weights is not so easy.
