Yes I talk to my dogs as if they were people and even though they bark they still talk back to me. The daddy of the pup that is my avatar even understands when I spell things out. Dobermans are pretty smart. Somehow he even knows how to tell time. I take him out to chase a laser light every night at 11 and at 10 till he comes up and will sit there staring at me and at 11 sharp will start talking to me, not barking but more more like talking only not words of course. The words he understands when I spell them out are Chicken, light, bath, go, store. He has all kinds of stuffed animals and one is a winnie the pooh bear that sings when you push its tummy and one is a sack looking thing that vibrates and sounds like a cat fighting and says honey have you seen the cat and here kitty kitty kitty followed by the cat sounds and vibrating . I can ask him to bring me his up down baby and he will bring me the winnie the pooh since the song winnie the pooh sings says up down touch the ground etc. or i can ask him to get the kitty and he will bring me the sack that vibrates and sounds like a cat. Dogs are smarter than people think they are. and if they had vocal cords I am sure they would talk and be able to hold a conversation with you. well some anyway.

Obviously my dog talks back to me. How'd be silly enough to talk to a dog? But sometimes it's hard to understand him, because he's japanese, so half the time all I catch are hai, konnichua, arigatou, mou, ano, and maybe a shimatta now and again. Most times I just ignore him because after a while he starts to rant.

my dogs talks to me all the time and I talk to him,I have a male(Oscar de la rent dog) and female (ginger) chihuahua, my male says mommie I love you and sings too all the time Oscar even knows when mommy or daddy come home, those little guys think they are human they don't know they are little dogs LOL. Oscar protects me and everything he will not let my hubby close to me if he thinks he is coming to harm me in anyway, shoot he won't let a stranger near me he goes off when they do. dogs are smart critters. Oscar is my dog and ginger takes to my hubby. When they love they really love their owner and love anyone else but not like they do their owner.

My Old English Sheepdog talks back and grumbles when I ask her if she wantgs a bath.
(She hates them)
She hears that question, her head goes down and she grumbles all the way to the bathroom.

I have 2 Siberian Huskies, so yes they do talk to me, and if I tell them something they don't want to hear, such as "no", they also talk back to me, but I'm not sure what they are saying - maybe I don't want to know what they are saying!

I talk to my dogs all the time and they answer but I don't understand a damn word they say becuz their chihuhas and only speak spainish.

Of course I talk to all my dogs, and some of them talk to me, but they don't talk back or argue, or tell better jokes...
