You are absolutely correct except for one point. God doesn't rule by anything because god doesn't exist.
The church and the con-men who pontificate behind the pulpit rule by fear.
Why? Because fear, more than anything else, keeps the collection plate full.
And THAT is the whole point behind religion. Keeping the collection plate full. Otherwise, these "priests" and "pastors" might actually have to work for a living. Can't have that now can we?

i'm neither a Believer nor an atheist, yet i'm a rational person, so i might play alongside, with the aim to communicate (via fact all and sundry loves a hypothetical), and that i might say that answer 2 replaced into the greater ultimate of the two presented. What i think or don't think isn't substantial in this occasion; you have asked a question, and given thoughts as to the respond, and that i will inform you what i think of is the respond of my selection. That way i haven't appeared like an ignoramus parroting the the present meme, and grabbing 2 factors interior the approach.

Religion is crap. God doesn't punish anybody. Religion by it's nature rules with an iron hand and a hand of fear. It puts responsibility into somebody else hands and defines actions as good or bad instead of calling it a a learning experience as growth of a human being. The world will be better off when we realize religion isn't necessary to salvation of your soul. And when I say salvation I mean attaining spiritual growth not thinking someone died for my sins. Salvation comes with the realization that you are worthwhile, here to learn, leave a mark, and love others.....not belive in so and so's divinity. It's freedom from the dead seriousness of life. It allows you to chill out and enjoy the ride. Religion is a crutch for the weak.

strange thing is, in the old testament, God is all " fear me! i'm a jealous god, gonna send a bear to eat your kids" etc. And then suddenly it's new testament time...." turn the other cheek, love your neighbour" stuff. What happened? did god make a mistake?
I always say that i wouldn't have a problem with the christians if they just kept to the second book and didn't try to reconcile the irreconsilable ..(wow did i just use that word? misspelt?)

The Catholic church is the only one that I have ever heard do that way. And of course Satan. I have no fear of punishment as I have read the bible and know the things the churches teach that are false. Not all churches rule with fear as you say, only a few that follow the main one.

Some religious people are threatened by people who do not believe as they do. Sadly, some of those people rise to prominence in their church and start dictating to the masses who eat that stuff up. It isn't God that is full of hate, just some of the ******* who twist the beliefs for their own aims.

Centuries ago the catholic church ruled by terror. Still today the acts that they perpetrated are blamed on christians.
God rules by positive re-inforcement, satan rules by terror and hatred of us.

Churches who do that aren't doing things the right way. True christianity is about love. Jesus's greatest commandment was, "LOVE your God, LOVE your brothers, etc.." When and where God chooses to unleash his wrath is up to him. We are called to love one another. It sounds pretty simple, but for whatever reason we can seem to get it right. Man's pride has alot to do with it.

I think you got the wrong idea. Fearing God is about reverence for Him and recognizing His power. God is love, and loves us more than we can imagine. He is also perfect, so sin can't exist in His presence.
Hope you'll try to understand,
Peace

Did your mother ever say to you "Wait until your father gets home?". It's the same premise. Were you ever afraid that your father would set out some horrible punishment or did you know that he would be fair, kind and loving?

Even though we will answer to God, we know that as our Father, he will be fair and loving.
