My college friend is getting married and she has put me in charge of a few tasks, which happen to be the most complicated I think. She wants a game as an ice-breaker at the rehearsal dinner. Does anyone have any ideas of games that I can use? Details would be great, as well as any tips on how the games turned out if you have personally used or witnessed them.

I have never heard of this before but it's something she has decided she wants to do. Apparently this will be the first time that the 2 families will be in the same room together - not the wisest decision but it's her wedding.

My fav ice breaker game is something very simple, but fun.

Have each person attending state their name and relationship to the couple.
Then ask them the share a funny story or memory of either the bride, groom, or both. My sis used it at my bridal shower and it went over great. My sis had me choose the best story for the winner of the game, but that having a "winner" i think is optional. The point of the game is just to get people talking.

The rehersal should be taken seriously so that everyone will know what to expect the next day, but the dinner can be lighthearted. I had mine at an asian restaurant, and a friend had hers at a Mexican place... complete with matching sombreros for the bride and groom! As far as the video games go, you need to think about the ages of the majority of the attendants. If most of the participants are younger, they'll probably enjoy the casual venue more and have a chance to unwind before the big day. If most of the guests will be older, however, they may feel uncomfortable in that environment. Mostly though, you do want to honor the wishes of the bride and groom, since it is their wedding after all!

I saw this really cool thing happen at a rehearsal once. The maid of honor (you could take this position) stood up and intro herself and then said how great that her friend had meet a quality guy and how he'd be missed in the dating world, but being that he is coming off the market any girl that still holds a key to his apartment needs to return it. (unknown to me at the time, the MOH had given all the females at the rehearsal a key with tape on the top so they could write their names on it. including his 88 year old grandmother). Needless to say everyone got a kick out of it. And I heard the bride say she was keeping all the "fake" keys as a remembrance of the night before her wedding. Don't know if that is something you'd want and/or be willing to do, but it is an idea.

Its all about communication. Perhaps you should convince them to have a nice diner with the family and then afterwards the youngsters can go off and play games. That being said, there is a place called Dave & Busters that has decent food and games. It is an adult establishment.

I have never heard of playing rehersal dinner games. I would try googling icebreakers or maybe first day of school activities for like middle school. I am a teacher and their is a TON of really good get to know you activities online.

Well word searches are very popular because people of all ages can do them and they don't take any movement. You have to remember that.
