it was made by zieman trailers in california but need vin number to put in my name, no paperwork with trailer.dont know last reg owner and was a gift to me by my neighbor. they know nothing about its history except they have had it 8 years.

dude call the DMV, they will tell you what to do or take it to another state, register it there and then register it in cali

Here in AZ you can just go in with the circumstances and they will tag it as a new homemade as of that date.
Or contact the company and ask them where they stamp the VIN and look for it on the trailer. It is usually stamped into the metal at the front of the trailer by the tongue.

You can go to dmv and tell them that you made if from parts of a bunch of trailers and then they just have you fill out paper work then they put a vin plaque on it. We put trailers together all the time that way.

These are registered as "a vehicle". It should be recorded at DMV.
It should have a registration sticker on it, like an automobile. It has to be registered every year.

IN CA YOU ONLY HAVE TO REGISTER IT ONCE. WE BOUGHT A TRAILER AND THAT WAS THE CASE.
