How true is it that advances in media are due to sex and porn?

Question

Videos, Internet, camera phones, video phones, use of jpeg and movie files

All apparently have had porn responsible for their development and funding etc...or sex.

How true is that?

Example video phones... As most people did not have them not much use except for couple who got a pair to send videos...

Plus why get videos out when you could go to the cinema... unless it was to see something you were embarrased to see in that kind of cinema...

Likewise When the internet started out and even now what percentage of the traffic is sex related? So no more embarrasment getting the magazine for 'er dad'

You dont have to pre pay ie the porn folk may not have pre paid but the industy would have known through research that pron would market their product boosting demand so therefore in a way is responsible.

Actually, a lot of the newer media was developed for the movie industry or in the case of the internet for governmental and scholar pursuit and exchange of information. The porn industry is always adapting to the new technology and I do not have any information that they have paid for any of the development. It is the media and the companies that are producing the new products that are selling it to willing buyers. If no one wanted a video phone, than the demand for video phones would die.

I saw a presentation from one of the major phone companies and they said that all of the technology you are referring to are driven by the three G's. Girls (i.e. porn), gambling and games. That's where the money is and therefore that drives technology!

if it were not for all of the people who love to watch adult films i would not have had sex with over 2000 women i would not have been in over 1400 feature films never had any jobs in Hollywood and i would still be broke delivering pizza in long island NY porn is a good thing for me it is my life

its true that porn viewing has greatly increased since then because there is far many more ways of getting to view it now. also children are seeing things at a younger age because of the lack of security on the internet. porn images pop up everywher. i think morte security options need to be made available

in my day you didnt see or hear the stuff you do on tv today, mind you im only 34. i think people are "shocked" and then it becomes the norm. its awful, no respect for self or others, my 11 yr old knows more now then i did at 16!
