If you're going to use cream cheese, allow it to get at room temperature and mix it with your ricotta before layering it in your lasagna. You may even have to heat it a little to get it to mix and spread a little easier. The cream cheese may give it a good, but different flavor -- it may be just what you're looking for. However, it's not going to add to the gooey & stringy-ness that most people look for when making and eating a good lasagna.
If the cream cheese doesn't work out, or you decide to change your mind on the ingredient, I would recommend adding large curd cottage cheese to your lasagna...along with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan.
Let us know how it turns out!

I'm thinking cream cheese would make it a bit too rich.
I usually make lasagna with ricotta or cottage cheese.
Cottage cheese usually ends up making the lasagna taste better.

You can bake things with cream cheese, but I've never heard of it in lasagna. Might be good though. Let us know how it turns out.

I have read recipes that have cream cheese chunks scattered in between the layers...I have never read of it being 'mixed' in with other ingredients. Give it a whirl...its cream cheese, how bad could it be?
FYI: I do a simple lasagna with thin slices of motz and dollops of sour cream and sauce between each layer of noodles. Its pretty dang good.

of course you can use cream cheese in cooked recipes..cheese cake uses baked cream cheese...and i microwave cream cheese and salsa into a great dip!!--my only suggestion is to freeze it for a few minute before you cut it, if you want to be able to get even sized chunks, then you can scatter them over your layers of lasagne more evenly. Besides i think anything with cream cheese is better!!

cream cheese cannot cook unless mixed with an ingrediant the right way, it will just curdle and spoil if you don't mix it with a non-burnable substance. try one teaspoon of baking powder and a 1/4 cup of milk with a stick of cream cheese if you really want it in your lasagna! but i don't recommend it!

It may be soggy, but I don't know, one recipe calls for cottage cheese. It is delicious. It probably does not sound very good, but it is. Try It!
