i am a chrisitan and i would like to ask--
why do u care so much about christians about others who believe in God or other people in other religions?
u dont even know me or anyone else, so why would u worry about us?
why must u condemn us all the time?
and btw. the money that we give in church-- supports the church.
some corrupt fake churches may use the money for something else but i dono.

Sam I am:
Brother, spend more time in your Bible. have you not read, have you not heard, that this is the nature of the unbeliever. They are doing what they know with a fallen nature. We have the responsibility to pray for them and live lives worthy of intriguing them to follow. Keep praying.

There are several answers to this. Some are perfectly reasonable responses by us atheists, and others are responses that maybe we shouldn't be so proud of. I'll give you a couple of each:
- One is that we can deeply about what happens to the world, and it's clear to at least some of us that the pervasive religious belief in the United States and in the Third World often stands in the way of progress (for example, with respect to medical research, family planning, and AIDS treatment and research). In some cases pervasive religious belief is an outright threat to the modern world, as in the case of terrorism (9/11, the anti-abortion movement, the Terry Schaivo situation) and the attack in the United States on religious freedom and other American values (e.g., with respect to homosexuals' rights, freedom of the press, etc.)
- One of the negative reasons is that we simply get our hackles up when someone says something clearly wrong. That's sort of one-upsmanship, often, and probably something we could do without.
- A third reason is that so many Christians go out of their way to insult nonbelievers, deliberately trying to get a rise out of us.
- Closely related to that, there's the problem of arrogance among many of the believers. That's pretty pervasive, and very hard to ignore.
- Then there's the whole distaste for the pervasive "political correctness" thing.

This must be the single question I have most answered on this site. But anyway, here we go again.
I don't really care what you do in your private life, who or what you worship, and so on. I don't condemn you at all. I don't worry about you, and all I have to say about you is that I sincerely think you're wrong (which must be about the same you think of me).
So, my problem is not with you believers. It's with the institutions. Those have been engaged in brainwashing believers, and manipulating everyone (believers or otherwise) for centuries. You may wonder why or how unbelievers may be manipulated if we don't buy your stuff. Well, but churches gain political power, and they gain an influence on the policies that countries develop. And that's how they impose laws and prohibitions that we all are bound to, not to mention that some presidents declare wars on other countries, in the name of their god, but they engage the whole population in that war that is fought in the name of an entity we have chosen not to believe in.

I spend some time here because I want to at least insert the idea that unchecked religion can harm people. Religious people have in the past and are still attempting to criminalize (i.e., jail or execute people for) homosexuality, abortion, interracial marriage, and in a variety of ways subjugate the freedoms of everyone, no matter what their faith. In presenting ideas here that call into question some of the basic points of faith, I hope that people will see that there are a variety of viewpoints and that they should avoid encapsulating in law the simplistic, black-or-white morality that does not belong in a pluralistic, secular society.
Believe what you want to. Live your life up to your own morality. But don't impose your morality on others. I doubt you would like to live under the morality imposed by the Taliban, and life under state-imposed fundamentalist morality would look no different.

I think you need to think before you put ALL atheists & non-believers into one category. And I don't know how long you've been a member of Yahoo answers but there is a LOT of condemnation that comes from the Christian side as well. I personally don't care what you believe. It's your belief & I respect that. I don't condemn you, or worry about you and it's totally none of my business who or how you give your money to. All I ask is that you show me the same respect and we'll get along just fine.

It makes me laugh that, in a world where Christianity represents a huge segment of the population, people like you have convinced yourselves that you are being persecuted and/or condemned by Atheists who represent an incredibly small percentage.
I don't believe in God and couldn't care less that you do. What I get tired of is having Christianity rammed down my throat. Rather than confine religion to your private thoughts, I find that the sort of Christians who go around proclaiming to one and all that they are Christians (like that deserves a medal or a monument) are attempting to cause political and social change without regard for the fact that there are those of us out here who just want to be left in peace.

I care about you, and don't like to see people exploited. That is what religion is. I get harassed by "Gospel spreaders", so this goes both ways. It is fine with me till people try to get mythology into science class, and try to put their beliefs on me. If there is not a resistance to Christianity, it will slowly take over the government, and start to effect me. Look at what religion does, crusades, wars, murder, torture, etc. There are I think 4 states that atheists can not hold office in. I am ok with people being christian, and letting me go, but that is not what happens. If Christians can cool it, and let us go, then fine. It does not matter to me what you believe, as long as it does not effect me. I could go on, but you seem like an OK guy, and I do not want to offend you. I do not hold individuals like yourself responsible, but the organization itself is a different story.

I'd like very much for everyone to respect each other's beliefs. I'm sure you feel condemned but if you look closer you'll find tons of attacks on atheists here. In many parts of the world, being an atheist means you have to defend yourself all the time.

How about next time you think of a question, first look in unresolved or resolved questions or type it into the search bar. I am tired of answering the same questions. Instead, people post the same questions and just get people angered.
But I will answer your question.
Many people who don't believe are interested in religion. Many have once been religious. Many are treated poorly by many religious people. Many believe that believing in god is delusional. The bible contadicts itself. In history, believers have corrupted, killed, and brought forth laws that made people suffer.

I don't care what you believe, even if you are completely wrong. I do care because you damn religious people always want to force other's to conform to your beliefs. You always try to pass laws that force me to live the way you want.
That is why there are television ratings, movie ratings, video game ratings. It's also why there are counties where you can't buy alcohol. If you damn religous creeps would stay the hell out of our lives and stop being so judgemental, we would stop telling you that you are stupid for believing in a God that doesn't exist...even though he doesn't.
