Leviticus lists those types of animals that should not be eaten including pigs. There is one Christian denomination of about 15 million members that believes that list still applies today. They believe that unclean animals are not for human consumption and the reason these animals should not be eaten is because they cause health risks. Most of the unclean animals are unclean because they are scavengers that are the garbage cans of the animal kingdom; many toxins accumulate in them.

lev 11:7 'and the swine(pig), though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. this was law in the old testament, that pigs were unclean for food.

Not to. they are unclean and not good for you. Go see what they eat and see if you would like to eat that. They also cannibalize themselves as well as eat any dead carcass they find no matter how gross it is. Perfect for doing away with a dead body you don't want the police to find. That is if you are into that kind of thing.

God said to Peter when he was on the roof and hungry to eat and spread out before him food. Peter said I cannot because it is unclean. God told Peter everything made by him was clean and good to eat.

Says swine are unclean, probably because there was no way to properly cook them at that time to avoid trichinosis which would cause terrible sickness and even death without antibiotics to treat.

before jesus, the jews used the law to stay clean and pure and not dirty their souls. and not eating pork was one of the laws and they abided by it. but when jesus came, he absolved their sins with his death, so they didnt have to follow the law anymore. it says that in one of the gosples. they're clean without the laws b/ jesus took on their sins and they didnt have to try to clean themselves. im pretty sure its in paul, but not possitive b/ im not good with the whole study-the-bible thing.
