Erudite can you point out a bigger military success in a shorter period of time? When you find it then post it; for it does not exist in mans history. Only in the eyes of political opponents of those who favor the war is it a loss.

If you follow the news, CNN & MSNBC, you'll see your question answered there almost daily, by retired generals, Govt officials, etc.
While watching Hard Ball with Chris Matthews Fri, they talked about the NeoConservatives (mostly Jews), that pretty much govern all branches of the US government. I have read quite alot about the New World Order on the I'net but never heard it on public TV until Fri. With this in mind, I don't know why anyone would vote Republican (or Democrat) for that matter. Both parties disregard the Constitution. Neither work for the majority of the American peoples rights or freedoms. The fact that so many people are aware of the NeoConservative movement, to create a one world government, is frightening, to say the least. It will be the end of democracy as we know it. The movement was started many years ago. You see this almost daily when the Constitution this country was founded on, is being ignored & manipulated into nothing more than a scrap of paper. It is supposed to be the law of the land. No longer.
The Executive Branch (Bush Adm), will never eat crow....EVER. The plan is to move into Iran before Bush leaves office. It may be the end of America (the nuclear war will begin), and we will never be safe. It is a NeoConservative plan to destabalize the Mid-East so the process can be completed.

Erudite,
That has to be the biggest Mis-nomer I have ever heard. The True reasons we went into Iraq, Haven't Changed. Changing the Face of the middle east and placing Iran Between Two armies, This is a strategic war. The more I hear about fools like you. who have neither listened to History, nor learned from It, The more my stomach is turned. Understand that the rules of engagement forced upon the Servicemen and women of the United States and the Constant second Guessing by the media and a do nothing Liberal establishment. cause the United States to lose Wars. Ho Chi Minh was ready to negotiate a settlement and cease the war in Vietnam Until Jane Fonda made her famous plea at the AA guns in Hanoi. The peace movement wasted the lives of over 50,000 people because they wanted to be correct. Today is no different, Those same Hippie Activist are out there now, hoping to bring about a new defeat of their old foes the US Military, Except now they aren't dirty Hippies, They are teachers and lawyers, senators and ex-presidents, or they have gone on to marry people of great wealth. And it is these elitists that will be the destruction of This country, and the rise of a neo-feudal society where by only the wealthy and strong survive. Will you be able to live in an Islamic world where all of your liberties are at the will of an Ayatollah, or the local Imam

Getting our rear ends beat everyday eh? My guess is that you are someone that has had absolutley ZERO personal experience of what is going on over there. Unless you are in the military or in the peacekeeping troops, or perhaps you are in Iraq helping to rebuild the country, offering medical supplies to those in need, etc etc.. Eat your own crow....you're a fool if you actually think we are losing that battle. Not even the iraqi citizens would say that. Many don't like the fact that we are there but there are just as many that are glad we did come in .

OK, to start, for those who say we are winning, services in Iraq are worse than they were under Saddam, more civilians have been killed during our occupation that were in all of Saddam's rule. If we didn't "blow things up and kill innocent civilians" how did we do that while carpet bombing cities and sending high explosive munitions into them?
We will leave the increased cancer risk due to the depleted uranium projectiles for another time.
Now for the original question
We already have.
Under Bush; America has lost the respect of the people of almost every country in the world. A few countries which are dependent on US aid and power still pretend to be on our side but their people are not.
They see us turning into Russia of the 50s and 60s; Invading countries for no reason, wire tapping illegally, library records being seized, showing documents for travel, being encouraged to spy on our neighbors all in the name of SECURITY, plus the elimination of the middle class.
Just hope that in November the long road to recovery will begin; but it will take far longer than the 6 years it took to get this close to the bottom.
Remember, the "Patriot Act" is not patriotic.

The economic effect on the US will probably be felt in 1-2yrs(probably by the time W is gone from office)
I think American casualties will hit around 3000(dead soldiers) by January or early February if they kept at the current rate.(it is a shame that people stopped talking about the number of Americans injured)
Considering how conservative and the neocon minds operate, they will continue to engage in cognitive dissonance(The theory of cognitive dissonance holds that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to reduce the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions. Experiments have attempted to quantify this hypothetical drive.)
So their minds will play tricks on them and convince them that:
#1 America is winning the war on terrorism (not true)
# 2 America is doing a favour for the Iraqi people ( mostly not true)
# 3 America prevented Iraq from having WMDs(Hehe)
#4 Iraq is improving (Haha)
It is just sad..
