I use the hoover carpet cleaner. That machine was the best $200 I ever spent. The cleaner that comes with it works wonders. My dogs went through a peeing stage too.

First thing I can suggest to you is that whatever you clean your carpet with, just spraying something on the surface just doesn't work. Your dog's urine saturates the carpet and usually down to the carpet pad level beneath it, so spraying the top side of the carpet still leaves the urine stains & smells below it. THAT is what's attracting your dog to certain spots he goes back to and soils time and time again. SOAK the carpet completely and let it sit for awhile sink down into the carpet pad really well, then use a wet/dry vac to suck up the excess water & cleaner you use.
I have had GREAT success with using basic hydrogen pyroxide mixed with water in a half/half (50/50) ratio solution; that permanently gets out all odor and pet stains clean through to the carpet pad. After 30 years and trying every product on the market, nothing else has worked for me or even come close!
WARNING - hydrogen pyroxide does in essence bleach or stain carpets, especially if it's a darker color or not color-fasted. Be sure to test the pyroxide solution by using a small amount in an inconspicuous spot of your carpet at first, then see if your carpet changes color first, before you go dousing your carpet in the middle of the room.
If you have dark carpet or the solution causes discoloration to your carpet, perhaps seriously thinking about pulling up all old carpet & carpet pad and laying down easily cleanable tile flooring that's been fully sealed will work best.
I know it's a pain but good pets are worth the temporary hassle and hard work. Good luck!

There are various pet neutralizers that you can obtain from pet stores or your vet that will neutralize the odor so that the dog doesn't pee in the same place again. Also, you dog might have a urinary tract infection or have been damaged in that area from abuse, especially if you adopted him from a rescue shelter. I rescued two puppies a couple of years ago and the female a small dachshund / coon-hound mix had a three foot tape worm in her little body that I was completely unaware of until I realized that she was eating a ton never gaining weight, then actually saw the disgusting thing come out of her one day when I took her for a walk. She is happy and healthy now, but it is imperative that you take your rescued dog to your vet for a thorough exam with ultrasound because it could be something more than just a behavior problem. It is fantastic that you have rescued a lovable puppy too!!!

There's some good products out there, one of which is called "Nature's Miracle." You can pick it up at most general pet supply stores. It takes the urine odor out of the carpet, and will prevent your dog from using the area as a bathroom again.
A dog does not want to urinate in his home, so if you try to spend a lot of time in all of your rooms, he will know that the entire house is the home, and there will be few accidents.
Hope that these two tips help!

Zero Odor is perfect. Not only will it illiminate the odor but it will take out the stain also. Go to ZeroOdor.com.
You really have to stay on top of your dog to break this habit. Start by taking him out at timely intervals and always to the same spot. Time him after he drinks...uaually around twenty minutes after, give or take a few minutes and take him out after that. Prod him on by saying "potty" or some favorite saying to urge him on. If after about 5 min, he does not, take him back in and watch him carefully. If he attempts to, stop him quick with a stern "NO" and immediately take him to the spot. You might want to keep a leash on him for for this prupose. If he does not attempt to, take him back out after about another 20 min or so. If you faithfully repeat this sooner or later he will get the message. Always make sure you thoroughly clean the urine from the carpet less he will attempt to use that spot.
Now for at night. Let him have his last drink no later than 7pm. Continue to use the daily method and make it the last thing you do before you retire at night. Also secure him in a pet crate at night. He might object at first but they are great for pets. They usually fall in love with them as their "special" place and feel very secure in them. Put a soft pet pillow or material in for confort. He will not pee in his special home. You might want to take him out once at some time in the middle of the night or if he let you know he wants to go.
This pattern should work well for you. Do it dilligently and your problems should end soon.

Nature's Miracle is the best! Takes out new and old stains very well. You have to let it saturate the area to get through the carpet and to the pad below. It does take awhile to dry, but well worth the wait.

Crate him at night when you go to bed and when you are not going to be home. He will think of it as his den. There is a product called Nature's Miracle that will get rid of the urine and the odor. You can buy it at Petsmart and other animal places. Good luck.

Instantly put heaps and heaps of table salt on it, the stuff from the box. Leave it on overnight... then vacuum. It gets every single stain out of my carpet.... dog piss, cat piss, wine stains, etc etc.
