well, you bring up a good point. there are a lot of issues i have with the bible too. so many people are going off on tangents quoting the bible, but they tend to omit a lot of the messed up stuff in there. there was not a whole lot of regard for women back in those days.

No, you can' just take ONE verse and go by it alone. Read the preceding verses. The men didn't want to have sex with a female, they wanted to have sex with a male. Lot knew offering his daughters they would say no. He was showing God and the Angels how much he loved them, that he WOULD offer his daughters to these men. The men wanted to "know" (have sex with) the Angels , which were male inside Lot's house. It wasn't messed up. He was protecting the Angels, but, at the same time he KNEW they would NOT accept the offer for his daughters, remember what city they were in and what happened to that city JUST after. That was why the Angels were at Lot's house to warn Lot so him and his family could leave and be saved.

There is plenty of respect for women in the Bible, but some of the guys IN the book really give males a bad name.

Yeah, Lot was messed up. I'm glad the angels intervened for the girls' sake!

He wasn't the only person to do this, either. A similiar story happens near the end of the Book of Judges. That girl didn't have such luck; she was raped to death! A civil war followed on her behalf.

I liked how Jesus stood up for the adulteress, though, in front of the crowd of religious hypocrites (trying to kill her and not the man!). That was awesome!

The lack of respect for woman as people and individuals is exactly what pushed me away from the Bible. It's lead me into reading about the pagan religions because there they actually value women as more than just a thing to do with as one pleases. Although most of them seem to value women over men. But I see us all as equal, each with our own good qualities and bad ones that in the end compliment eachother quite well.

i'm a cutting-edge convert to Catholocism after seeing Divine Intervention on television(makes each and each of the version). i visit basically imagine the position God became vacationing at the same time as ND performed Michigan or maybe landing Jesus failed. yet tonight's loss is sparkling data of a preferrred being. there is not any different logical rationalization. they're equipped as a lot as be so sturdy and given a sturdy bowl sport and nationally ranked, and are continuously on television. Screw them. And about the above actuality, ND does no longer belong to a convention and accordingly have a diverse set of skills for receiving a bowl invitation. 'Nuff reported.

Oh, I know. I read that and think, oh my goodness.

He did that in order to save the angels, in the guise of humans, who the men of the town demanded to be brought out so they could have sex with them. What a town!

There was a time when women were chattel. But Jesus lifted women up. He forgave them, restored them, and who did Jesus appear to first, upon rising from the grave? A woman.

But I'm with you. There are some stories in the bible that sure make me glad I'm a 21st century woman!

It was the responsibility of the home owner to protect those that came to visit with his life if need be. Women have the right parts to receive the men but men don't so what was he to do? Much easier and more according to God's plan for a woman to be used than a man.

Why do so many people ask Bible questions? Of course the Bible shows no respect for women. Men wrote it.

...Remember that was a book written a long time ago in a time where women were't really respected. Certainly Christians don't follow the Bible word for word or the world would probably be a very sad place today.

Yes it was messsed up, but Lot knew that it was the angels of the Lord. He also knew the men did not want the women.

Also in those days if you took someone as a guest in your house they were treated like royalty. They were always put first.
