1.8 million illegal children- is this a diversion to draw support for all illegal immigrants?

This seems like the newest illegal immigration arguement; the arguement supporting illegal immigration seems to go further away from the core issues of economic impact, security problems, cultural issues, etc. and extends further out to "periphery" issues like most illegal immigrants are hard workers or what would you do? Should Americans be held liable for children of illegals? Either way, Americans are now immoral for either breaking up families if children are allowed to stay(and then wouldn't Americans have to pay for the children with more taxes?), or, immoral for deporting children along with their families and sending them to a culture "foreign" to them. Did illegal immigrants put these children in jeopardy by having them here to begin with? Do illegal immigrants bear no responsibility for the consequences of bringing children illegal to the US- either being deported with their families or being allowed to remain without family members who came illegal as wards of America?

Yes- let me re-phrase. To begin with- what about children that are brought here illegally from other lands with their families? I understand that children born here even among illegal immigrants are citizens of the US- does that give all illegals with children in the US a free pass towards citizenship/staying here? Don't many illegals try to find an American to have children with in hopes it does allow them to stay? Should these actions be rewarded with citizenship for the person who has illegally entered the US?

They are so idiotic. These people, many of them, are still of childbearing age. If they stay they will have that many more children we will have to pay to educate and support.

They keep raising numbers like 12 million thinking it will make people say 'gee, we can't send THAT many home' when what the big numbers make people think is 'this is intolerable - get them out FAST'. I see it over and over again.

There are two sides of the border, and the child can, if desired, go to the parent's side. But for their breaking the law, that is where the child would have been born and would have been raised, in any event.

I have my own feelings about screened amnesty if the problem is REALLY solved, but this sort of manipulation using children, like the business of that woman at the church, makes me feel like changing my mind.

If a child is born to an illegal alien while in this country that child IS a US citizen. Period. You may not like that but it is a legal fact and it has been that way for over a century. Whats the matter, don't you think we should obey the law? You can make an argument for illegal aliens not being allowed government services, drivers license, etc. But you can't make the same argument about the children. The United States has a legal and moral obligation to take care of those children if their parents are not there to do it.

What they are trying to do is just take over our country because we have more benefits, more well paying jobs, and more freedom than the country of mexico does. They want to come over here and take our jobs and all our welfare and leave us americans nothing. They are greedy, uncivilized, and very annoying. Want to know the legal difference. Anyone born in the US is a US citizen by birth. Whether you like it or not, that's what the Constitution guarantees.

Deport the kid in the church with his mother. This is a ill attempt to gain public sympathy, and it is not working. It is only going to get more crazy. What about our family dog, he is American? Does anyone ever think about the legal immigrants? What if those that followed the laws to be here decided one day, I will have my anchor kid and just stay here, everyone else did it illegally. Please, enough with the family sympathy ploy.

Fox is right .. if all those who are waiting in line to get their green cards legally just hopped over to the States on a tourist visa and had babies, we might as well do away with immigration laws altogether ... from then on, only people who are above child bearing age, or gay, will need papers .... wow!
