Yes it is an unfit household. And you should report them to abuse hotline. They may possibly not be giving them direct abuse, but it is abuse in a sense if they are fighting in front of the kids then it is abuse. Plus if he or she is physically abusing eachother it is very possible that they are doing it to the children and no one knowing about it. I would call the hotline and make sure to tell them that if they need to be taken out of the house hold that you are fully able to take care of them. They would like to give children to someone in the family other than foster care. And I think it's wonderful that you are willing to keep them. Not many families will. Two thumbs up to you! And I hope you can help them. Children deserve better.

You're right to want to do something.

Call either DSS (Dept of Social Services) or Child and Family Services (whatever you have in your local area) or the police. They will do an investigation to see whether or not the kids are safe.

They MAY place the children with you. This is not guaranteed, however. I would call DSS right away.

Call Social services and see if they can do a home visit. They may place the kids with you or they may be placed in Foster care.

Call a social worker to check it out, and if they find it to be an unfit home volunteer to provide care for them.
