THE LORDS PRAYER OF COURSE AND
O let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmers of self will.
O speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control,
O speak, and make me listen
Thou guardian of my soul
ALSO A PRAYER COMPOSED BY REINHOLD NIEBUHR LONG BEFORE IT WAS ADOPTED BY AA
Serenity Prayer
God Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to change the things I can.
And the Wisdom to know the Difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to Your Will; So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

My father didn't believe in the bible. He was getting very old and was still rejecting Jesus. I started praying something in particular, especially every time he would blaspheme God or mock God's word. I would come home and say to God "Father, your word says that you will have mercy on whom you choose to have mercy, and you will harden the hearts of those also whom you choose. In Jesus' name, I ask that you not harden the heart of my father, but please have mercy on him". I must have prayed this same prayer (along with many others for him of course!) a hundred times over ten years.
Every time I prayed that prayer, I felt as if a layer of disbelief was being peeled off of my Dad's heart. Four days before my father passed away, at the age, of 91, he accepted Jesus as his savior. God hears our prayers, He answers our prayers, my father was saved, and nothing is impossible for God.

This prayer by the Apostle Paul has many key elements that can be used to pray for other people in a powerful way!
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Colossians 1:9-15

Any prayer that says anything beyond thank you, is symbolic of a lack of faith in God.
It assumes that God would give you something that is not in your best interest.
It assumes that God is less aware of what is best for you than you are. That he needs your help to figure it out.
This is called faith by organized religion but it is actually a complete lack of faith. Trust that God is doing his job and is competent and able to get you back home safely.

i have a prayer for my job.
i start by thanking Him for placing me in my job under His appointed authority (my boss) in my life. i ask His forgiveness if i have not been obedient in my works and my heart. i ask that my boss makes decisions according to His will and that i continue to stay under that protection.
this may sound corny to some, but it really helps me get through the day... especially if i disagree with decisions made by my boss... plus it keeps me reminded of who i am and what my purpose is.
thankyou and God bless.

heh, prayer, a prayer is not a poem, you don't recite it, or tell it like a story, you don't usually talk in poems, now, do you??? standard prayer is just bull.... a prayer, at least a true one, comes from the heart, like a conversation with the divine....

For the power Thou hast given me to lay hold of things unseen:
For the strong sense I have that this is not my home:
For my restless heart which nothing finite can satisfy:
I give Thee thanks, O God.
For the invasion of my soul by Thy Holy Spirit:
For all human love and goodness that speak to me of Thee:
For the fullness of Thy glory outpoured in Jesus Christ:
I give Thee thanks, O God.

Heavenly Father, most Holy, most High, I thank you for Your mighty love. Please have mercy on me, Lord, for I am a sinner. Show me what You want me to do and help me to do it. In Jesus' holy Name, I pray. Amen.
