I don't believe it. The Bible says: "work out your salvation with fear and trembling." I am becoming more like Him as I practice living a righteous life. I am either a servant of sin or a servant of righteousness. I don't mean that I never sin, but if I sin I need to ask forgiveness. It is no light matter.
The Bible also says, "God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
He is a loving God but He hates sin. I no longer want to displease God. And when I do I am sorry. My nature has changed.
If a person keeps right on in the same old sins without repentance I would wonder if he/she were ever saved at all. I include myself in this. For a long time after I was saved, I continued to fall into sin. I decided to rededicate myself and even be baptized again in repentance of sin. I have taken my walk with Christ much more seriously since then.

The phrase "once saved, always saved" is not in the Bible. However, the TEACHING is a vital part of the doctrine of Salvation. Once a person has accepted Christ as Savior they can never lose their Salvation. That is because Christ does not possess Salvation, HE IS SALVATION (see Luke 2:30 & Luke 19:9). We cannot earn eternal life, it is God's free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once we accept that gift, nothing or no one can take that gift from us, neither can we ever again be lost (John 10:27-30, Romans 8:35-39, John 3:16, I Peter 1:3-5). Our Salvation is not about how good or bad we are, for all have sinned (Romans 3:10, 23). It is about God's ability to keep us saved once we belong to Him.

Well, it's a good statement "in theory." Then again, so was communism.

I think you are right that someone could possibly get "saved" at an early age and then later denounce Christ and blaspheme the HS. Will they go to heaven? I can't say for sure.

What bothers me is that a church would continually go out of its way to make this statement when they know it causes division from other Christians. Why not just simply say "We are saved by the grace of God."????

The only way to get saved is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior and ask for forgiveness of your sins and repent which means stop sinning. Yes once saved always saved but if you got saved and there weren't positive changes in your life and your sinning like you were before then you weren't necessarily saved that is called False Conversion. If you have gotten saved and your life has changed for the best and your trying to live the best you can for God, then you got saved. Sometimes you will make a mistake and you may even think you failed but God will forgive you if you ask and repent.....just because your born again and got saved it doesn't make you perfect, no one is perfect but we should try to live a Godly life. You can tell when someone really got saved by the way they live.

Another term for that phrase is "easy believism". Can somebody simply mouth a prayer and then go to heaven, regardless of how he lives? I don't see that in the Bible at all.

There is assurance of salvation in 1 John 5:13, but to understand it you have to read the whole Epistle of John.

There is also the mystery of election. The fact that God knows ahead of time who will qualify and, perhaps, has chosen them is His business. Our business is to qualify for salvation, which begins with a very wise fear of God and then turns to His Son, Jesus Christ, Who is the Designated Driver to get us to heaven, meaning that He has bought our ticket with His blood. If we truly trust Him and get in the Car by faith, stop regularly at the Holy Spirit gas station for a fill up, and check our oil level along the way, then I would say we can feel pretty humble about arriving.

I do believe that salvation comes by accepting the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Once you confess that, you are saved from the original sin of Adam. So, yes, I do believe that as long as you believe that Christ died on the cross for you, you are saved. However, you can backslide. If you are in a state where you are not living according to God's word but you still believe in Christ, you are still saved. You have just decided to be a backslider. I guess that I believe that you are still saved, but I don't follow the familiar philosophy of once you are saved you are guaranteed a place in Heaven.

Salvation is not of the opinion of the one who chooses faith in Jesus Christ. Only God can see if a person actually IS saved. You may be able to judge, in fact, better than the self-assigned Christian who is dogmatic and without vision. IF saved, then it IS always. Not anyone would be a Christian, if not certain of their salvation, regardless.

The hope of God is in the granted that He is working on the areas in a person to give them passage and recognition of Him. It is a narrow way, and, yes, does attract those many who do not understand the definition of narrow in the context. But their aim is the moment before death, not the present. Many worse than you right now who are right now entirely self-obessed and projecting their opinions in Christ's name, may if they live another few decades, at least recognize God when they meet their Maker, because that is their aim.

Once you are saved the gap between you and God is closed. Even after you are saved you can find Hell because you must live with Jesus in your heart and repent of your sins to find the Kingdom of Heaven.

I believe that once your name is written in the book of life than you are one with God. I think that there will be a lot of surprises once we are finally judged, a lot of "religious" people will find themselves outside looking in and there will be others that are allowed in that the religious thought should be going to a warmer place. Please continue to study your Bible and stop judging everyone else. Remember in Romans, Paul states judge not least ye be judged according to your ways.
